In the world of pack politics, Elara, a weak omega, is forced to marry Alpha Zephyr by the alpha king's decree. Her parents, Ryker and his mate, are eager to secure the marriage to hide a family secret that could jeopardize their position in the pack. Elara is reluctant but relieved to find Zephyr views the marriage as a business arrangement, devoid of emotional attachment. However, at the wedding ceremony, the alpha king announces the expectation of a public mating ritual, complete with a mating mark, to solidify the union, adding an extra layer of tension to the situation.

As Elara struggles to adapt to her new role as alpha's mate, Kalliope (Callie), the daughter of Beta Shadrach, returns from her assignment to find Zephyr married to Elara, shattering her own expectations of marrying the alpha. Callie is shocked, angry, and feels betrayed, and she begins to keep a close eye on Elara, suspicious of her intentions. As she investigates, she discovers hints of a hidden family secret surrounding Elara's parents, which could potentially destabilize the pack's hierarchy.

As Callie digs deeper, she uncovers the truth about Elara's parents, leaving her torn between loyalty to her pack and her own ambitions. She must decide whether to expose the secret or use it to her advantage. Meanwhile, Elara is caught in the middle, navigating treacherous pack politics and her own feelings for Zephyr, who begins to show her a softer side. The alpha king's expectations and the pressure to produce an heir add to the tension, leading to a climactic confrontation that will determine the fate of the pack.

A cry for freedom
Chapter one Elara's eyes brimmed with tears as she grasped her mother's hands, her voice cracking with desperation. "Mother, please...you can't let them do this to me. I can't marry him, I can't bear the thought of being tied to that...that monster for the rest of my life." Her mother's eyes filled with sympathetic tears, but her voice was laced with a hint of resignation. "Elara, my dear, I'm so sorry. I wish I could help you, but I have no say in this. The Alpha King has decreed it, and we must obey." Elara's grip on her mother's hands tightened, her voice rising in anguish. "But why, Mother? Why must we always submit to their rule? Can't we just run away, hide from them like we did before?" Her mother's face contorted in a mix of pain and fear, her voice barely above a whisper. "We tried that, Elara. We tried to escape, to build a new life. But they found us, and they punished us. I cannot risk that again, not with your life at stake" Elara's mind wandered back to a night long past, when she was just a tiny child. She remembered the urgency in her mother's voice, the fear that lingered in her eyes. Her mother had woken her in the dead of night, her face pale and her hands shaking. "Elara, we have to go, now," she had whispered, quickly gathering a few belongings. Elara, too young to understand, had simply followed her mother's instructions, her heart racing with excitement and fear. She remembered the feeling of her mother's hand grasping hers, the way they had slipped out of their small cabin and into the darkness of the forest. They had run for what felt like hours, the sound of their footsteps echoing through the trees. Elara's mother had pulled her along, her grip tightening whenever Elara stumbled. The vulnerability in her mother's eyes had been palpable, a look that Elara had never seen before or since. But their escape had been short-lived. Elara remembered the sound of growling, the flash of teeth in the moonlight. They had been caught, dragged back to the pack by the Alpha's enforcers. Her mother's despair had been palpable, her body limp with defeat. Even now, Elara's heart ached as she recalled the fear and helplessness she had felt that night. She had never understood the reason behind their attempted escape, but the memory of her mother's desperation had stayed with her, a constant reminder of the fragility of their lives as omegas Elara's tears spilled over, her body shaking with sobs as she realized the futility of her pleas. Her mother, a weak omega like herself, was trapped in the same web of fear and submission. The weight of their fate crushed her, leaving her feeling helpless and alone. She was betrothed to Zephyr Alford who is the alpha of their pack. While that could be any other girl's dream, it was definitely not hers. Her mother sensing her distress, moved closer, her eyes filled with concern. She places a gentle hand over her daughter's attempting to offer comfort, but Elara recoiled, pulling her hand away, her eyes welling up with tears ''Mom please,'' Elara's voice cracked, her words barely above a whisper. "You can't make me do this. I can't marry him. I'll be trapped, I’ll never be happy.'' her voice broke as she struggled to continue, her words tumbling out in a desperate plea. ''You know I’m not strong enough like the others, he will crush me, mom''. Elara's eyes begged her mom to see the fear that gripped her heart, a last-ditch attempt to convince her mom to spare her from a fate she could not bear. Just as Elara's words hung in the air, the door swung open, her father, Ryker, strode in. His piercing gaze and chiseled features seem like they were carved from granite. His expression is unyielding. Ryker was once a respected member of the pack, his reputation had been tarnished by a past mistake, a mistake that had caused him his position and pride. His eyes once warm now hold a strong tint of cold calculation. His broad shoulders and towering height commanded attention. His voice was deep and firm, ''Enough Elara'' he said, his tone final. ''Your mother and I have discussed this. Marrying Alpha Zephyr is the only way to restore our family's honor within the pack. You will do as you are told.'' The weight of his words heavy in the air, leaving Elara trapped and helpless. Her Father's determination to reclaim their family's status overwhelmed his concern for her happiness or well being. Elara's eyes flashed with anger, her voice rising in hopeless defiance. ''Honor and status? You call sacrificing my happiness and freedom 'honor?' You are trying to buy back your respectability with my life, after single handedly ruining our family's reputation with your own mistakes! Your precious honor was lost the moment you betrayed mom and the pack, not me!'' The words cut deep and for a moment Ryker’s expression seemed to c***k, revealing a glimmer of pain but it was too quickly replaced by his usual stern mask. He storms towards her. ‘‘You ungrateful child!’’ he bellowed, his massive strides closing the distance between them. Elara tried to step back but her father was too quick. He grabbed her by the hair, yanking her head back and hissed, ‘You will do as you’re told, Elara. You will meet the alpha tomorrow at the blood moon river and you will be well behaved or so help me…’’ Tears of pain and fear streaming down her face, Elara struggled against his grip, but he held fast. Her mother cowered in the corner, silent and helpless. '‘You will not embarrass me, Elara." Her father growled, his hot breath on her face. ‘’You will do your duty, or suffer the consequences.’’ Elara’s father, Ryker, was not always like this. Ryker, Elara's father, was once a kind and gentle soul. Her mother would often tell Elara stories of the way he would play with her, tickle her, and make her laugh. He was a devoted partner and a loving father, always putting the needs of his family first. But that all changed when he made a grave mistake, one that cost him his rank and respect within the pack. Since then, Ryker had become a shadow of his former self. His once warm eyes had turned cold, his smile replaced with a scowl. He was now a man driven by a desire for power and a need to prove himself, no matter the cost. Elara had never known the kind and gentle father her mother spoke of, only the harsh and unforgiving one who stood before her now. Ryker became obsessed with reclaiming his position and restoring his family’s honor. The pack’s alpha, Zephyr , had offered Ryker a chance to restore his rank in exchange for Elara’s hand in marriage. Ryker saw this as the perfect opportunity to reclaim his status and did not hesitate, despite his daughter’s protests. His obsession with power had consumed him, leaving behind the loving father Elara once knew. Ryker released Elara’s hair with a final tug and she stumbled back, tears streaming down her face. He turned and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Elara collapsed onto the bed, her mind racing with fearful thoughts '‘Oh no no no… what’s going to happen to me? I’m going to be married to Alpha Zephyr , the most feared wolf in the pack’’ "I’ve heard stories about him, how he’s ruthless and merciless, I’m weak and timid. I’ll never be able to please him’’ ‘Will this make him punish me, will he make me suffer?’’ "And what about… intimacy? Will I have to… with him? I have never even kissed before, and now I’ll be expected to… to mate with him? It’s too much to bear.’’ Elara’s thoughts were consumed by fear and desperation as she lay there, her body shaking with sobs. She felt helpless and trapped, with no escape from the terrifying future that awaited her
