I slept all through the ride from the airport to the house. I woke up to Asher pressing a soft kiss on my forehead. A smile lined my face, and he smiled back too.
“We’re home, beautiful,” he said while I then looked out the window and saw we were really home.
I was supposed to smile and be happy, since there’s nowhere like home, but I didn’t. I couldn’t. I was aware of what being back home would mean, so I wasn’t excited to be back. But then, I still forced out a grin, which he returned with another kiss to my nose.
