Zach's POV:
My parents didn't listen to me. I will give them a taste of their medicine. I will become something I never thought I would be. I can't let myself get in big trouble. I'll show them what I'm capable of. My friends will help me with this. They will help me get into problems, but not real ones. It's enough for my parents to believe it. I have already prepared the first one. Logan's uncle is a police officer. The man has no idea what he is getting into. I'll pick up a fake fight with someone, and he will come to arrest me. Well, it will be almost arrested. All I need is one of my parents to come and pick me up. That's why I know what the lecture will be. They won't let me have a party if I act this way. Here is when I'll step in. I can stop being the bad guy if they let me make one. I'm open to negotiation. The problem is if they will do it. I have no idea, but it's worth a try. I don't know what the second bad thing should be. Being arrested is enough. Hopefully, it will never happen for real. I don't want to deal with the police anytime soon. I want only one thing. I don't understand why my parents are so stubborn. This is why I will be. I won't give up until I receive what I want, even if it takes me days. I hope that they will give up soon.
I woke up two hours ago. None of my friends were online. It was 5 am. I couldn't sleep well. I took my things and went out. For a second, I thought about leaving my parents a note. Then I gave up. They don't need to know where I am. I'm outside. I decided to walk around before school. I texted my friends to tell them not to wait for me. There is one place that is open that early. Technically, it's open from 10 pm until 8 am. I got a Red Bull and walked around.
When I passed by a park, I saw someone. No one comes that early. Then, I saw her. What the heck is she doing here? I carefully sat next to her. She doesn't look well. Maybe I should say worse than before. I have no idea what is going on with her, but she is not well. Hopefully, she is not sleeping. I carefully touched her hand, and she flinched. At least she is not asleep. Her eyes look red. She won't say it, but I believe she has problems at home. I was about to say something, but she shut my mouth with her hand. I'll be quiet. The unexpected thing was that she snuggled.
- Do you need help with something?
- Can we don't talk?
- Yes. I won't say anything.
- Thanks.
- But.
- But what?
- I can help you if you let me. I promise.
- I understand, but how can I trust you? I don't know if you can keep my life private.
- You won't be disappointed.
- Why now?
- What?
- Since we met, you have been bugging me. Now, it looks like you want to be my friend or at least get close to me.
- It's not what you are thinking.
- What am I thinking about?
- That I will use you. It's not true.
- I'm sorry, but I don't get close to people. I have seen enough. It doesn't matter what you say.
- You will never believe me, will you?
- Give me a reason to do it.
- You are like my parents. I want something from them, but they will never let me.
- Can I know what it is?
- A party. I haven't been to one since the summer vacation.
- Seriously? I thought you wanted something more valuable.
- This is valuable for me. I like to have fun with people.
- Good luck with that. It won't be easy.
- Why don't you make one?
- Because I don't want to. I don't need a few teenagers turning the house upside down.
- Are you sure you are not related to my parents?
- Positive.
- This is not the reason. Is it?
- Does it matter? Even if it's not, I won't tell you the real one.
- Whenever I try to be nice to people, they don't believe me.
- Because you are mean most of the time. It's the same with lying. When you lie so much, no one will believe you even if you tell the truth. Think about this.
- I think that I made a mistake coming here.
- I didn't make you do it.
- Next time, my decisions won't be that dump.
I don't even know why I'm trying. There is no point in this. She will never believe me. I stayed out for some time and later went to class. It won't be me if I'm not late. The boys looked at me, but I didn't say anything. I texted in the group chat about the plan. Logan will call his uncle. It would be good if he didn't know who my friends were. Otherwise, the plan is busted. Everything needs to go smoothly. After the class, we went to the hall.
- When does your uncle's shift start? - I asked
- I think it's after 7 pm. Don't worry. He can always come for me.
- Thanks. No mistakes. Where is the makeup?
- In my backpack. My cousin asked a lot of questions. - Jake said
- Did you tell her something?
- No. My mouth is shut. This is between us.
- Good. The less people know, the better.
- Are you sure it's a good idea? Your parents might ground you.
- I won't give up until I get what I want.
- Let's say this doesn't work. What is the next step?
- I don't know. I have to think about this.
- We'll help you if it doesn't go too far. - Logan said
- Fine. I appreciate it.
- We are your friends. You can count on us. - Dylan said
- Someone else might make a party. You should check.
- I can, but this became personal.
- Hopefully, you can win against your parents.
- I will do everything possible about that.
- It sounds stupid, but why don't you talk? It takes less effort. - Jake said
- Don't you think I haven't tried? They don't want to listen to me. I will do the same.
- Good luck.
- Are you ok? If it's about the plan, you don't need to come.
- No, it has nothing to do with that.
- Then?
- It's nothing important. - he said and left
I have noticed the change in him. Something is happening, but I don't think he will tell us. Maybe it's better if we don't know. I don't talk to my friends about what I do every minute. When the last class finished, I went home. To my surprise, my mom was there. I didn't expect to see her. She never told me she would be at home. I'll go to my room. I need to prepare for the plan. Nothing can go wrong. I will get what I want. No matter what it costs me.
- Where are you going?
- In my room.
- Do you want to tell me something?
- No. What am I supposed to tell you?
- You didn't like that I was here. What is the next plan? If you do something horrible and get in trouble, your chances of the party will vanish away.
- I never said I planned anything.
- Zach, I know you. What else will you do? Can't you, for once, leave me in peace?
- I will if you let me do what I want.
- The only reason I don't let you have one is that you are irresponsible. You won't clean and will leave everything to us.
- I won't. I promise. Please.
- I'm sorry, but I don't trust you anymore. You have lied to me too many times.
- But mom.
- You can go out with your friends if you want.
- It's not the same.
- Let's say that I let you do it. What will you do for me?
- What do you want?
- To stop getting in trouble and be the good boy I wanted.
- Don't you ask for too much? You know this will pass away. It needs some time.
- When will this happen?
- I don't know. When I grow up?
- Zach, go and do your homework.
- I will be in my room, but the second thing won't happen.
- Zach!
- I'm sorry. It's pointless to do something I will never use in my life.
- You never know when you will need it.
- I think I do.
I called the boys to cancel the plan. It won't work. I told them about the conversation with my mom. There is no point in doing the plan. It won't work. She won't fall for that. I don't want to get up, but I will give her time to think about this. I spent the rest of the afternoon in my room. For dinner, I went outside. Maybe I can find Zoe. I need to stop thinking about her. She doesn't want to talk with me. I took some money from my parents and had dinner at a restaurant. I was about to get up when I saw Zoe. I ran after her.
- Hey, Zoe!
- Zach? What are you doing here? Are you stalking me?
- No, I had dinner in this restaurant.
- Then where are your parents?
- I came alone.
- You don't look much in the mood.
- I have problems as well.
- As well?
- I know your life is not easy. Maybe something has happened.
- You don't care.
- I never said that.
- But I know it's true. I don't need to tell you. I mean, you can't do anything to help me.
- We can go for a walk.
- I won't deny it.
- Did you have dinner?
- Yes.
- What did you eat? Chicken?
- Does it matter?
- Let's go and get you something. It's on me.
- You don't have to buy me anything. I'm fine. Also, I can take care of myself.
- Maybe, but I still want to do it.
- In that case, I won't deny it. I might not have a second chance.
- I can let you have one.
- Really? Why? I'm not special.
- I never said that.
- Do you think it?
- I prefer not to tell you. Otherwise, your ego will rise.
- I don't even have one.
- You seem tired. Did you sleep last night?
- I did. It's not because of that. I have other problems.
- Can I help you solve them?
- No, you can't. No one can help me.
- I know a place with good food and drinks.
- I don't need to eat now.
- Who said only you will eat? I need food as well.
- But you said you had dinner.
- So? I can have another one.
- If you say so.
- Will you trust me on this one?
- I have nothing to lose. For real.
Zoe and I went to eat. I had only a snack. My stomach was full. I want to help her, but I don't know how. I don't think she will share it with me. I don't think she trusts me enough. I'm starting to understand my mom. The difference is that I want something from her and my dad. I don't need anything from Zoe. For some reason, I feel bad for her. Maybe it's because she was one of the few girls that didn't walk after me. I might drop the act. I don't know who I want to be, but I might try to focus on something else. I will have a party, but it won't be the only thing. I hope that my parents will give in soon.
