Chapter Fifteen

1453 Words
**Selenes POV** Sitting in Andrews lap, I listen as the council continues to talk about the rouge Alpha and what the plan will be to take on his pack. Worry sits in the pit of my stomach the more I learn, we are heavily out numbered by our enemy and those odds usually end badly. I may have just become Luna last night, but my heart already bled for my pack, I don't want to see warfare come here and destroy every thing we all hold dear. Families would be destroyed, pups would be orphaned and many females could lose their mates. We had warrior females, don't get me wrong but most chose to stay home once they had pups, hanging up the warrior hat until the pups had their first shift. We had to work out a careful plan for this battle, making sure to be as stealthy as possible and try not to go head to head. Hey little wolf, you okay? Andrew breaks my revere. Yes. I sigh. Just worried about our pack. How are we going to make this work, Andrew? We will. He states. I swear to you, we will do this the right way. I smile at him, loving that we are on the same page were the pack is concerned. Most Alphas could be very hot headed and temperamental when it came to their territories and this rouge was encroaching big time, so Andrew keeping a level head was an impressive feat. He was an amazing Alpha, always keeping the thoughts and safety of his pack above his as much as he could. "Alpha, if I may." A council member named Jonathan chimes in. "Our spies did discover something else. I will warn you, it will enrage you, but it is the evidence you will need to disband your Delta." Interest piqued, I can't help but pipe up before Andrew has the chance. "What did they discover?" "Well Luna." He chuckles lightly at my enthusiasm. "We have learned that your Delta, Daniel Sawyer, has been feeding information to the rouge Alpha about this pack behind your back. The way he did it made it hard for even our special forces to discover, they only came across it by infiltrating Darrens pack and observing very closely. He is extremely good at covering his tracks, Alpha Briggs. So good at it, if he hadn't betrayed his Alpha, we would have considered taking him on." He grimaces at us, hating to bring forth the news that one of the wolves Andrew should be able to trust the most was our biggest traitor. "ERIN!" Andrew booms, causing me to jump. In a split second, Erin is at the door and peaking his head around. "Yes, Alpha?" "Do you know where Daniel is?" He growls out. I begin rubbing his back soothingly to help him calm down before we can get to the bottom of all of this. "He left Alpha." He explains. "He said he was going to patrol the boarder while the council is here." "Really?" Andrew asks lowly. "Yes sir. I thought it was odd though, because usually you give me the order to do so and I never received that order. He said since I am now the Lunas Gamma, it wasn't my job." He pauses, waiting for the signal to continue, Andrew giving him that with a curt nod of his head. "He was acting off since the council arrived Alpha. His face was pale and he was acting very nervously, pacing and fidgeting. Not at all how he usually is when he's been under pressure before." "We need to find him, Erin." Andrew glowers. "He is this b*****ds spy." "Yes sir. Alpha, Luna, I am sorry for failing you. I should have seen it sooner." He hangs his head in shame, causing my heart to shatter. I walk up to my best friend, my Gamma and wrap him up in a hug. "You haven't failed us Erin." I reassure him. "He manipulated all of you, would have manipulated me as well given the chance. You did what you knew and trusted him. You were raised with him, Er. It is understandable that you trusted him." I smile at the one man in my life who has never failed me since I lost my parents, the sole man I trusted alone until yesterday. His eyes light up as my words sink in and he softly smiles back at me. "Thank you, Luna." He murmurs. "Now you better return to Andrew, he's glaring at me for all the attention his mate is giving another male." I roll my eyes at him and turn back to Andrew, giving him my best serious face. "Don't you start your possessive 'I am Alpha' bs with me, Andrew Briggs." I sass. "I am yours and yours alone, mate, but Er is my best friend, I am used to comforting him when he is upset and that will NOT stop. Clear?" I c**k an eyebrow to prove I am not backing down from this. Laughter peals throughout the office, coming from Jeremy, his eyes alight with humor. "She is a little spit fire, Alpha!" He chuckles. "She is perfect for you." "Yes." He muses. "She most definitely is." Turning to me, he apologized for his brutish behavior and I return to him, taking my place back in his lap. We begin discussing what we are to do with tracking down Daniel, waisting no time in revoking his status in the pack and banning him from the territory. He will no longer be allowed to step foot in the pack, the argument for it versus against it being that if he were to come back and we try to arrest him, a fight could break out and lives could be lost. He was fully unpredictable now and we couldn't take any chances. After another hour and a half, the meeting finishes and the council decides to stay at the pack house, offering the help of their special forces to track down our former Delta. With a plan in place, we hold a pack meeting to explain what has happened and that the former Delta is no longer allowed on the property. Any one who comes across him at the boarder is to immediately mind link the patrols and the Alpha. All who patrol are to stay in groups of two or more, making sure to stay as far from the property line as possible while still being able to keep an eye on the tree line. The privilege to go beyond the property line is now revoked until further notice to protect the pack as well. A lot are disappointed by this as there is a beautiful cliff that sits over a lake just beyond the boarder, but they nod their understanding, knowing it is for the better of the pack for everyone to keep within the boarders. "I will not lie to you." Andrew says. "The person who our former Delta has been feeding information to is the most dangerous enemy we have seen in well over two hundred years. There is the potential for war if we do not seize him soon, but we have plans put in place to prevent that and find him as quickly as possible. It will take time to execute this as well as we can, so if he begins to move before we get the chance, the boarder will be cut down to the tree line and there will be a curfew. Is that understood?" "Yes, Alpha." They chime. Turning to me, he wraps me up in a tight hug, explaining to me that during times of warfare, the Luna is to lead all the females and their pups to the shelter under the pack house and help keep them calm. He stresses to me that it is important not to unlock the door to any one unless I know without a shadow of a doubt who is on the other side, which will be confirmed with a new code through mind link. "There's one last thing Selene." He begins. "I know we just met but I feel deep in my gut that I need to get this off my chest. You have lit up my world, made things more wonderful and easier for me to bear. I.... I love you." I look up at him, seeing the love he speaks of with a speck of fear swirling in them. He is worried I will reject him, but only if he knew that I have been feeling the same as he has, I was just too scared to say it. "I love you too, Andrew."
