My fists tighten, and my heart falls as I listen to the men trek across the plantation house. Anxiety rides me whenever I hear Nicholas’ voice. With every sound of gunshots, my body grows tighter. It’s only when I hear the explosion that I nearly fall apart.
Scout must see my panicked expression because she moves close to me and wraps her arm around me, “It’s going to be okay, Daynara. Nicholas and the others are professionals. They’ve been on missions similar to this one before.”
I nod, but it’s all bullshit because I’m freaking out.
Things worsen when I hear the hot British assassin, Shadow, yell, “The bloody thing is on a timer. We have less than a minute to get out of here. Let’s go.”
Everything goes to hell after that. Explosions ring out, and fire bursts from the house
