Today is the day. The day I would be alone in the house. I sighed as I stared at the ceiling. It would’ve been fine if I hadn’t hurt my foot. Now, I can’t even go outside. What am I supposed to do all day? It’s so boring.
I know I told Mom earlier that I’d be fine, but the truth is—I feel bored.
"Kai, are you sure you're gonna be fine? We can still cancel—"
I cut her off before she could continue. "No, I'm fine. Just go. This happens only once a year."
