Chapter 2 – The Angel in a White Coat
The bright morning sun illuminated the magnificent skyline of Washington, D.C., where towering government buildings, luxurious mansions, and world-famous hospitals stood proudly. Among them was St. Grace Medical Center, the largest and most prestigious hospital in the country, a place where the nation's most influential people received treatment.
Doctors and nurses hurried through the spotless hallways while ambulances arrived one after another.
Inside Operating Room Three, complete silence filled the air.
"Scalpel."
A soft but confident voice broke the silence.
"Yes, Doctor."
The nurse immediately handed over the instrument.
Dressed in a blue surgical gown with her face hidden behind a mask, the young surgeon focused entirely on the patient lying before her.
Sweat formed on everyone's forehead.
The surgery had already lasted for nearly five hours.
One tiny mistake...
And the patient would die.
The senior surgeons standing behind her could only watch in amazement.
For someone so young...
Her hands never shook.
Her breathing remained calm.
Her movements were graceful and precise.
After several more minutes of careful work, she finally placed the last stitch.
"It's done."
A sigh of relief escaped everyone.
The heart monitor continued beeping steadily.
The patient had survived.
The entire operating room erupted into applause.
"Another successful surgery."
"She's unbelievable."
"I still can't believe she's only twenty-six."
The young woman slowly removed her gloves before pulling down her surgical mask.
Immediately, everyone in the room admired her breathtaking beauty.
Her long black hair was neatly tied into a bun, while her crystal-clear eyes reflected kindness and compassion.
She wasn't just beautiful.
She possessed the kind of beauty that made people feel safe.
Her name was...
Peace Williams.
One of the youngest and most talented surgeons in America.
But despite her extraordinary skills...
Very few people knew her true identity.
Nobody would ever imagine that the humble doctor standing before them was actually the beloved daughter of America's First Lady.
Peace smiled warmly at the medical team.
"Everyone worked hard today. Thank you."
"No, Doctor Peace," one of the nurses replied with admiration. "Without you, we would have lost him."
Peace shook her head gently.
"We saved him together."
That was who she was.
She never took all the credit.
She believed every life saved was the result of teamwork.
After changing out of her surgical clothes, Peace walked toward the children's ward carrying a small paper bag filled with chocolates and toys.
The moment the children saw her...
"Doctor Peace!"
"She's here!"
"Big sister!"
Several little children ran toward her with bright smiles.
Peace laughed softly before kneeling to hug them one after another.
"Have all my little heroes been taking their medicine?"
"Yes!" they answered together.
"Good."
She handed each child a small gift.
One little girl hugged her tightly.
"Doctor Peace... when I grow up, I want to become just like you."
Peace smiled, gently stroking the girl's hair.
"Then you'll have to study very hard."
"I will."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
The little girl's innocent smile melted everyone's heart.
Not far away, another young doctor stood watching with folded arms.
She smiled knowingly.
Tiana.
Peace's best friend since medical school.
"You know," Tiana said as Peace walked over, "sometimes I wonder if you're secretly an angel."
Peace laughed.
"I'm just doing my job."
"No."
Tiana shook her head dramatically.
"You work overtime every week."
"You donate half your salary."
"You treat poor patients for free."
"You buy gifts for children."
"And somehow you're still smiling."
Peace chuckled.
"Is that supposed to be a compliment?"
"It's a fact."
The two friends walked toward the hospital cafeteria together.
As they sat down with their lunch, Tiana leaned forward.
"So..."
Peace raised an eyebrow.
"So?"
"When are you finally going to fall in love?"
Peace nearly choked on her juice.
"Tiana."
"I'm serious."
"I'm not thinking about relationships."
"You've rejected lawyers, actors, pilots, businessmen, even princes."
Peace sighed.
"My work keeps me busy."
Tiana narrowed her eyes.
"Or maybe your standards are too high."
Peace laughed softly.
"I don't have high standards."
"Really?"
"I just want someone kind."
"Handsome?"
Peace smiled.
"That's optional."
"Rich?"
"I can earn my own money."
"Loyal?"
Peace's smile became gentler.
"Very loyal."
Tiana rested her chin on the table.
"You know... every man in this hospital is afraid to ask you out."
"Why?"
"They think you'll reject them."
Peace burst into laughter.
"I'm not that scary."
"No..."
Tiana grinned mischievously.
"You're just too perfect."
Peace shook her head helplessly.
"If only people knew how ordinary I really am."
Neither of them mentioned her family.
Peace preferred it that way.
She had hidden her identity from almost everyone at the hospital because she wanted people to respect her for her skills...
Not because she was the President's daughter.
That evening, after finishing her shift, Peace drove to the White House.
As soon as she entered, a warm voice called out.
"My baby is home!"
Heaven Williams hurried over and embraced her daughter lovingly.
"You've lost weight again."
Peace laughed.
"Mom, you say that every week."
"Because it's true."
"I've been eating."
"Barely."
The two women laughed together before walking into the elegant living room.
Unlike her husband, Heaven always welcomed Peace with warmth and affection.
Just then...
Heavy footsteps echoed through the hallway.
President Lucas Williams entered the room.
His sharp gaze landed on Peace.
"You're late."
Peace immediately stood.
"I'm sorry, Dad. An emergency surgery took longer than expected."
Lucas nodded once before sitting down.
"Good."
That single word surprised Peace.
Her father rarely praised anyone.
"You saved another life today."
"Yes, sir."
"Continue making this family proud."
Although his voice remained cold...
Peace knew that was his way of showing love.
She smiled softly.
"I will."
As the family gathered for dinner...
None of them knew that somewhere in New York...
A billionaire CEO named Alex Anderson was laughing with the woman he loved.
Their lives couldn't have been more different.
One was surrounded by politics.
The other ruled the business world.
For now...
They were complete strangers.
But destiny had already begun moving the pieces that would bring them together in a marriage neither of them could escape.
to be countinous....
