chapter 1:The man everyone fear
Chapter 1 – The Man Everyone Feared The morning sun stretched across the skyline of New York City, painting the glass towers in shades of gold as thousands of people hurried to work, but among all the towering buildings, one stood above the rest. Anderson Global Holdings was more than a company; it was an empire that controlled billions of dollars across technology, real estate, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. Employees often joked that if Anderson Global sneezed, the entire stock market would catch a cold. At exactly 7:30 a.m., a sleek black Rolls-Royce Phantom pulled into the underground parking garage. Immediately, security guards stood at attention. The elevator doors were opened before the owner of the car even stepped out. A pair of polished black Italian shoes touched the ground first. Then came long legs dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. Finally, the man himself emerged. Alex Anderson. Twenty-nine years old. America's youngest billionaire CEO. A man whose name alone was enough to make business rivals lose sleep. His face was breathtakingly handsome, with sharp features carved like a sculpture, piercing grey eyes that carried no warmth, and an expression so cold that no one dared to meet his gaze for more than a few seconds. Every movement he made radiated confidence, authority, and power. "Good morning, Mr. Anderson." "Good morning, sir." Every employee bowed respectfully as he walked past them. Alex didn't answer. He simply continued walking with both hands inside his pockets. His silence was enough to make everyone nervous. Inside the private elevator, Joy, his personal secretary, was already waiting with a tablet in her hands. "Good morning, sir." Alex nodded slightly. Joy immediately began reading his schedule. "You have a board meeting at nine o'clock, a video conference with the European investors at eleven, lunch with the directors at one, and the signing ceremony with Adrian Group at four this afternoon." Alex listened quietly. "What about tomorrow?" he asked. Joy checked her tablet. "You'll be attending the International Business Summit in Washington, D.C." Alex nodded once. The elevator doors opened directly into the executive floor. Every employee stood up immediately. The atmosphere instantly became tense. Nobody dared whisper. Nobody dared smile. Everyone focused on their work because they knew one mistake could cost them their job. Alex walked into his luxurious office without sparing anyone a glance. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the entire city. The office was decorated in black, silver, and dark wood, reflecting the personality of its owner. Cold. Elegant. Untouchable. He removed his suit jacket, placed it neatly on the chair, rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt, and sat behind his desk. Files had already been arranged in perfect order. Without wasting a second, he began reviewing contracts. Work always came first. Nothing else mattered. Outside the office, Joy released a quiet sigh. She had worked with Alex for four years. She admired his intelligence and leadership, but even she could not fully understand him. He never attended unnecessary parties. He rarely smiled. He never mixed business with emotions. His life revolved around work. Yet there was one person capable of changing that. Kalva. Unlike everyone else, Kalva could make the cold CEO smile. She had been by Alex's side for years, long before Anderson Global became one of the most powerful companies in America. They had built dreams together. They had made promises together. And everyone who knew them believed they would eventually get married. Around noon, Alex finally leaned back in his chair after finishing another stack of documents. Just then, his phone vibrated. The cold expression on his face softened almost immediately when he looked at the screen. Kalva Calling... For the first time that day... He smiled. Joy happened to walk into the office with another file and froze in surprise. Her boss... The man who frightened entire boardrooms... Was smiling. Alex answered the call. "Good afternoon, sweetheart." Joy quietly placed the file on the table before leaving without making a sound. On the other end of the phone came Kalva's cheerful laughter. "Are you still working?" "You already know the answer." "You work too much." "I'm building our future." A gentle silence followed. Then Kalva laughed softly again. "I miss you." Alex's voice became unexpectedly gentle. "I miss you too." "When are you coming home?" "I'll finish early today." "You promised." "I never break my promises." Kalva smiled to herself. "I made your favorite dinner." Alex closed his eyes briefly. "Now you're making it impossible for me to concentrate." She giggled. "Then stop working and come home." "I wish I could." "Fine... but don't stay too late." "I won't." "I love you, Alex." Without hesitation, he replied, "I love you more." The call ended. Alex stared at the phone for several seconds before placing it on the desk. A rare warmth filled his eyes. People believed he had no heart. They were wrong. His heart simply belonged to one woman. Later that afternoon, Alex arrived at the luxury apartment he shared with Kalva. The moment he stepped inside, the sweet aroma of homemade food filled the air. Kalva ran toward him with a bright smile before wrapping her arms around his neck. "Welcome home." Alex held her gently. "I'm home." She looked into his eyes. "You look exhausted." "It's been a long day." "Then tonight, no business." He smiled. "No business." She took his hand and led him toward the dining room where candles decorated the table. "You cooked all this?" "Of course." "For me?" She rolled her eyes playfully. "Who else?" Alex chuckled softly. "You spoil me." "I plan to spoil my future husband forever." Alex reached into his pocket and brought out a small velvet box. Kalva looked at it in surprise. "What's that?" He opened it slowly. Inside was a beautiful diamond bracelet. Her eyes widened. "Alex..." "You said you liked it last month." "You remembered?" "I remember everything about you." Tears formed in Kalva's eyes as she hugged him tightly. "You always make me feel like the luckiest woman alive." Alex kissed her forehead gently. "Because you are." Neither of them knew... That fate had already begun writing a different future. A future where love would be tested. Promises would be broken. And two strangers, who had never dated each other, would one day stand before the world as husband and wife. To be continued...
