CHAPTER 34 The next few days passed as if the ship were adrift. Michael was left alone, no matter where he went. No one told him their new course, or even if they had one. The motion of the sun overhead told him they were headed south. Presumably Argo was on its way out of the Gulf of California, maybe returning to San Francisco, the expedition over. Or just seeking a port of call where he could board a plane for home before he could cause more trouble. All around him people went about their business, but magically vanished as he came near.
