Michael had to work the next morning, but trying to sleep was an utter waste of effort. Instead, he went online and tried to find as much as he could about symbiotes. Symbiotes of the skin included fleas and barnacles. That wasn’t reassuring, somehow.
What he needed to know was whether symbiosis was life-threatening, but he was dealing with an entity from another world. How could he expect Wikipedia to cover that?
None of his online research gave him unequivocal answers. There were so many kinds of symbiotic relationships, and they operated in a thousand separate ways.
There was also no shortage of symbiotes in fiction.
