The laboratory was an old one, but it was clean, and some of the equipment looked new. Cassidy left Michael alone in a small room while he questioned Sakiko. She stuck to her story that the symbiote had left Michael and vanished into the ocean when he’d gone swimming the previous morning.
Cassidy seemed especially eager to know if the symbiote was aware, or even intelligent, but she only smiled as if he were pulling her leg. The ploy wouldn’t work for long if they were to get answers from Michael, though. She’d had no chance to talk to him alone.
