CHAPTER 52
The San Diego beach was beautiful, but too crowded for Sakiko’s taste, even so late in the evening. Michael badly needed to work off the stiffness of his muscles and feel earth beneath his feet before they took a cab to the harbor. In some ways it would be great to be back aboard Argo—far nicer than anything she had to look forward to back home. She was excited about testing the theories she and the Controller had developed to re-energize oceanic algae. For the first time, she felt truly hopeful that she might be able to save her beloved coral reefs. It would be so easy to throw herself into the venture to the exclusion of everything else.
