But when a mysterious investment giant launches a ruthless takeover of Bennett Dynamics while an unseen enemy begins dismantling Ashford Global from within, their rivalry becomes the least of their problems.Forced into an uneasy alliance, Damien and Aria must navigate boardroom wars, family betrayals, media scandals, assassination attempts, and secrets buried deep within the Ashford legacy. As fake promises blur into genuine feelings, they discover that the greatest threat isn't losing their companies—it is losing each other. But someone has been orchestrating their downfall from the very beginning. And when the final betrayal convinces each of them that the other has lied, the love they never intended to find may become the weapon that destroys them both.In a world where billion-dollar empires rise and fall overnight, only one question remains:Can two sworn enemies build a future together before everything they love is taken away?

Chapter 1: The Woman He Had to Marry
The silence inside the Ashford Global boardroom was absolute. Twenty-four executives sat frozen around the forty-foot black marble table, none daring to breathe louder than necessary. At the head of the table, Damien Ashford slowly closed the billion-dollar acquisition file in front of him. The sound echoed through the room. "Rejected." One word. That was all it took. A seasoned vice president swallowed hard as sweat gathered beneath his collar. "B-But, Mr. Ashford... we've spent eight months negotiating—" "I know." Damien didn't raise his voice. He never had to. "Their valuation is inflated by fourteen percent. Their debt is disguised in offshore subsidiaries. Their CEO lied during yesterday's meeting." His cold gray eyes swept across the room. "And none of you noticed." Silence. Damien stood. Six-foot-four. Impeccably tailored charcoal suit. Power seemed to follow him like a shadow. People called him ruthless. The financial world called him a genius. His competitors called him a nightmare. He preferred none of those titles. "They'll come back in seventy-two hours," he said, buttoning his jacket. "When they do, they'll accept our original offer." No one questioned him. No one ever did. His assistant hurried toward him as the meeting adjourned. "Mr. Ashford... your grandfather's attorney is waiting." Damien's expression remained unreadable. "My grandfather died three days ago." "Yes, sir." "There shouldn't be anything left to discuss." "I'm afraid there is." --- Thirty minutes later— The private conference room felt strangely colder. The family attorney, Richard Hale, pushed a sealed envelope across the polished table. "Your grandfather left one final amendment to his will." Damien broke the wax seal. He read the first page. Then the second. Then the third. For the first time in years... His expression changed. "No." Richard adjusted his glasses. "I'm sorry, Damien." "This is impossible." "It is legally binding." Damien threw the papers onto the table. "My grandfather built Ashford Global for fifty years." "He did." "And now he expects me to gamble it on marriage?" Richard sighed. "Not just marriage." Damien's jaw tightened. The attorney continued. "You have ninety days to marry." "If I don't?" "You forfeit your position as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer." The room became suffocatingly quiet. "The controlling shares will transfer to the family trust until another qualified heir is chosen." Damien laughed once. It wasn't amusement. It was disbelief. "He knew I would never agree." "He also knew you'd never surrender your company." Damien stared out at the skyline. Marriage. The one thing he had sworn never to need. Love created weakness. Weakness destroyed empires. He had watched it happen to his own father. He would never repeat that mistake. "So I'll marry someone suitable." Richard didn't answer. Instead, he slid over another document. "There is... another condition." Damien looked down. His eyes narrowed. "The bride cannot be selected from any family approved by the Ashford board." He frowned. "She cannot be employed by Ashford Global." His expression darkened. "And she must have no financial dependence on the Ashford family." Damien looked up sharply. "What kind of condition is that?" Richard spoke quietly. "Your grandfather wrote one final note." He unfolded a handwritten letter. "'If Damien chooses a woman who fears him, he will become the same lonely man I once was. Let him marry a woman strong enough to stand against him.'" The room fell silent. Damien crushed the paper in his hand. "Ridiculous." "It was his dying wish." Damien turned toward the floor-to-ceiling windows. There were very few women powerful enough to stand against him. Fewer still who would dare. Then— A name surfaced in his mind. Aria Bennett. The youngest billionaire in the country. CEO of Bennett Dynamics. The woman who had publicly humiliated Ashford Global during a bidding war six months ago. The only person who had ever looked Damien Ashford in the eye... ...and told him no. A slow smile appeared on his face. Not warm. Dangerous. "If my grandfather wanted me to marry someone who could challenge me..." He picked up his phone. "Then I've found my bride." --- Across the city— The boardroom at Bennett Dynamics erupted into applause. Aria Bennett stood before a wall-sized screen displaying one headline. BENNETT DYNAMICS WINS THE $4.8 BILLION METRO INFRASTRUCTURE CONTRACT. Her executives celebrated. She didn't. She simply smiled. "Enjoy today," she said calmly. "Because tomorrow Ashford Global will come after us." One director frowned. "You really think Damien Ashford would take this personally?" Aria's smile widened. "I don't think." "I know." At that exact moment... Her assistant rushed into the room, breathless. "Ms. Bennett..." "What is it?" "The CEO of Ashford Global has requested a private meeting." The room fell silent. Aria looked toward the city skyline where the Ashford Tower pierced the clouds. Then she laughed. "Tell Damien Ashford..." "...I'd rather negotiate with the devil." Her assistant hesitated. "There's one more thing." "He says..." "...he isn't calling about business." Aria's smile disappeared. "What does he want?" The assistant swallowed. "He says..." "...he wants to ask you to marry him."
