Arthur of Beartica

The birthday(1)

Arthur and Athena were ready to live for the capital of the human kingdom for the king's birthday. They would use a carriage to travel there because even though Arthur has the gate, he has to show his nobility and go there with his luxurious carriage. The distance between the kingdom of Beartica and the kingdom of Lawrence is 3 days if you use a carriage and the travel there is relatively safe because it is the main road that merchants use for their travels between the two kingdoms, so they are frequently cleaned of any bandit groups. Their trip this time was no exception to this rule and Arthur reached Lawrence after 3 days.

The capital of the human kingdom is the most advanced in the whole continent since humans learned to rely on technology in order to fight the other races that have innate strengths. Arthur has decided that he would attack the human kingdom next because they are still not wary of him, something that he could take advantage of in order to successfully conquer the humans as well, even though he is pretty sure that they will fall quite harder than the devils after all his new spell is already known to the world and he can't surprise them with it. Humans also have 'that' spell that they used in order to defeat the demon king in the past and Arthur would like to avoid having to deal with it.

While thinking all of that Arthur and Athena reached the palace, a majestic palace with statues of all of the previous kings standing there mightily. Arthur thought he sensed something from these statues but chose to ignore it and walked towards the entrance where he was greeted by the chief maid of the palace awaiting their arrival. She led them to the throne room, where the current king of Lawrence was seated on a golden throne. His name is Leonard and he is a 45-year-old man with a strong presence. Next to his right hand is the queen, seated on a lower throne than the king and on his left there is the crown prince, who is an acquaintance of Arthur from the academy.

'' King Leonard it is a pleasure meeting you. I wish you a happy birthday and a life full of prosperity.'' Arthur said smiling friendly and so did Athena, who was shaking with rage inside since humans hate devils and she was afraid of finding out about her secret.

''King Arthur I pleased that you made it for my birthday, let me give you my condolences for your father's death. I can't believe that the devils did such a thing, good thing you eradicated them all.'' Leonard said with a fake happy tone since eradicating the devils also means that Arthur got Thanatica as his territory as well.

''Anyways I believe you young ones should hang out with your peers so why don't you go on a stroll with my son here and look at the palace's gardens that are said to be the most beautiful in the world?''Leonard asked and told his son Ben to accompany Arthur.

''Of course, see you later then king Leonard,'' Arthur said and followed the prince to the gardens.

Strolling in the palace Arthur had a small talk with Ben and they also talked about their plans, poor Ben didn't know Arthur was using him only to get the human kingdom more easily. For Arthur, his only friend and person he trusts is Athena since they have vowed to not cause harm one to another.

The gardens were indeed beautiful, full of different plants both common and rare from all around the world. This kind of environment is pretty good to live in since there is no disturbance, only plants, and animals. Just like that, the sun gave its place to the moon signaling the start of the birthday celebration, so Arthur and his company headed to the ballroom where all celebrations take place, and it was already full of nobles and some of the most successful merchants in the whole continent.
