Mackenzie “That will be all people!” Lila called out after enumerating our next order of business until the actual performance. Basically, nothing had drastically changed, but we were given a week off starting from tomorrow to “recuperate”. We don’t get a lot of those, so the moment it was out of Lila’s mouth, a lot of us actually cheered. Happy with how things ended today, I quickly grabbed my things, bid everyone goodbye, and headed out, already planning what to do for the next days to come. “Had fun?” Maverick’s voice rang, startling me. I looked at him as if I was imagining things because I saw him leave this morning. He zoomed off, so I couldn’t understand why he would be here at this hour. I didn’t know much about the lives of famous rock stars, but aren’t they supposed to be busy all the time? “Uh... hi?” I questioned, clutching my bag as if he was going to take it away from me, which was absurd, knowing that he probably earns millions more than I do. “Hop on,” he stated with a smile on his face. That trademark smile of his that gave off that boy next door type only sexier and damn it, that made my heart flutter once again. “Oh, no, no no,” I’m not getting on that damn thing ever again, thank you very much,” I protested. I couldn’t tell if it was the motorcycle itself that scared me or the way I kinda liked holding onto him. Either way, I was going to turn the offer down. “Damn thing? You make it sound like it’s got a disease or something,” he laughed, and I wanted to tell him to shut up because his laugh was infectious and I had to try my best to hold everything in. You know, those moments when you actually think ‘you’re funny, but I should be hating you, therefore, I shall not laugh’ kind of thing. “Not a disease, no. Just not for me, also, I can go home by myself just fine,” I explained, handing the helmet he left with me earlier, only he didn’t actually take it and just stared at it for a while before slowly meeting my gaze. “I know you can go home on your own, but I’d like to make sure you get home safely. You don’t need to feel pressured to invite me in. I can just wait until you’re inside, then I’ll go.” Well, damn. How do you even argue with that? I really wanted to stay mad at him. I really did, but how could I when he says things like that? “Okay... But don’t speed off as if someone’s chasing us, please,” I conceded, and he laughed once again. I wore the helmet and got behind him. My heart immediately accelerated when I held on to him and I feared that he might feel it. I then gave him the address of where I live, then he slowly eased out into traffic. He was supposed to take me home immediately, but he told me that he was about to pass out from hunger, so I had no choice but to agree that we needed to stop somewhere to grab something to eat. I mean I didn’t want the man to die while I was with him, and I could also eat. We rode all the way to this bistro called Jive, but instead of stopping at the front, he made his way to the back alley and parked across the back door. “It’s a lot better to get in from here,” he explained when he saw the confused look on my face. I didn’t understand what he meant, so I just shrugged and followed his lead. As soon as we were inside, I was surprised to see an army of paparazzi hanging around outside, hence the back door. “Did they know you were coming?” I asked, pointing at the window so that he would know what I was referring to. “Nope, but a lot of celebrities come here to hang. The four of us come here from time to time too. The food's great and so is the ambiance." He then led me to a table that was the farthest and most hidden from the window. A waitress immediately walked over to us, handing each of us a menu. “Hey, Maverick,” she greeted him with a huge grin. “Hey, Joanne. Is Roman around?” he asked. “Not tonight, but I’ll let him know you dropped by,” she cheerfully answered. We then ordered what we wanted to eat and as soon as Joanne left, Maverick started telling me the back story of this place. I discovered that this was his band’s favorite go-to and that the owner was a good friend of theirs. He then told me that this was where the epic love stories of Sky and Maddox began and that Sky and James even had their wedding reception here. I found that adorable. He then told me that on that same night, Maddox met his wife in the back alley. "Umm, excuse me? Maddox is married?" I was flabbergasted. Maddox had always been the playboy of the four. At least that was how I remembered him. I honestly thought that he was never going to get married and that he was just going to go all around the world sexing the lights out of willing women until his last breath. He wasn't a bad guy, it's just that he was very vocal that he wasn't the relationship kind of guy and now he was actually married. "Yeah, you really didn't know?" He questioned. "Umm... no," I answered. Of course, I didn't. Like I've said, I had been avoiding any news about them. "Well, he's married to Sydney Prescott. The talented and beautiful actress." My eyes bulged at the information he told me. I knew who she was. I've watched every episode of her series and her movies, but never have I ever heard that she was actually married to Maddox Price. "No way!" I gasped. "Yeah, he put a ring on her. She tamed the beast," he chuckled, before going back to his story. “Thank you,” I said as I handed the helmet back to him once I got off of his motorcycle. “You’re welcome,” he smiled before gazing at the small light blue bungalow house where I live. It wasn’t much, but it wasn’t rough either. It was just a modest home that had a tiny front and back yard. “Cute house,” he sincerely mentioned, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit of pride. “Umm, thanks. Well, thanks again,” I answered before waving goodbye. I didn’t even make it three steps away before he called my name again. I turned to look at him but didn’t ask what it was that he wanted to say. "Would you like to hang out with me tomorrow night?"
