Chapter Five

Magnolia

I sigh a happy sigh “Ahh.” The Versailles Palace or Palace of Versailles. A place I’ve only dreamed of coming to. The pictures I’ve saved on my phone are now being replaced by the ones I get to take on my own that is honestly the best feeling ever. I am wearing a pair light wash ripped skinny jeans with a light sheer bell sleeved floral embroidered shirt with a baby pink tank underneath. My hair is lightly curled and I have a pair of white platform boots on that go just above my ankle. I look and feel like a dream.

As I tour the palace, Lumi is excited but, also said she’s not experiencing this with our mate.

“Am I doing the wrong thing of making him chase us?” I ask Lumi.

“Oh no, I saw your memories as I’ve always been with you. He deserves to chase us. I do want our mate though.”

“Me too sorta.”

I take in the sites around me. Absolutely amazing architecture. I’m just in a state of shock honestly.

I walked around with the tour guide, my dad had bought out a 2 hour slot for just me. I don’t want to know how much he spent. The tour guide took pictures of me for me. It was such an amazing experience!

When the two hours were up I decided to go to a little cafe with outside seating and had some lunch and a cute little drink along with it. As I got back to the hotel, my phone pinged alerting me of a new text message.

“Got my next flower, answers coming soon. I have a meeting. I’ll text you in an hour, little mate.”

Knox texted me. Mhmhm he got that flower pretty quickly.

This meeting is so inconvenient but I need to help my dad with a client for our regular “human” business. We also deal with other packs and Alphas but our wolves deal with those customers as we employ humans as well and they deal with those customers and we over see and create the game plan and over see all the plans and deals made. But this human client is a big shot so me and my father need to make sure things are running smoothly. I jump off early while my dad and the client keep going on and on about random stuff now. I go back to the question.

If you could go back and change past actions, would you?

“Magnolia, If I could go back I would change how I’ve treated you but I wouldn’t want to change anything else. You’ve been a big part of my life since you were born. Fun fact, when you were born I knew I met my mate, all our parents said they saw it in my eyes. As we got older I pushed you away because I was scared. I was a coward. I was surprised when I actually caught your scent and I was right all thoughts years ago. I felt so mad at myself but, finding you became my main focus. I want and need my mate. So yes, I’d change my actions toward you but, I’d never change anything else. Also my next stop, Paris.

I sent it and don’t expect a reply back but it would be nice to talk to my mate. I don’t think i deserve a response, at least not right now. I get dressed and decide to go sight seeing for a bit before I leave tomorrow and continue on my search for Magnolia.

Magnolia

Reading his message made me smile but a bit sad because he knew, deep down, he knew. I think that with that answer I am going to leave the bad memories in the past and continue on with the present leading into the future. I also have to leave my flower, question, and a photo of me here and head on my way.

I’m currently at the hotel, doom scrolling on a video app just mindlessly watching crap. There’s not much for me to do as I have no work responsibilities. I think I’ll take a shower and call my brother.

It rings a few times.

“Hey Nolie!”

“Hey Bud! I’m missing home a little. I miss the fast pace of it all. Here, I have nothing but time.”

“Why don’t you call or text Knox, you know he’d love to hear from you.”

“I know and I will when I become more comfortable. Right now I have to fully re get to know him ya know?”

“I understand that. You guys have been through a lot. Locking…” I cut him off.

“Let’s not relive it.”

“Well you have to come to terms with it and let him explain.”

“I will in due time. He said he does wish he changed a lot of how he treated me, so we shall see. But enough about all that. How are you and Sophia?”

“We are doing amazing, planning her luna ceremony for a year from now, Dad is gonna have us take over sooner than we had planned but we think we are ready.”

“That’s awesome! Congratulations!”

“Thanks bud, but I have to let you go, why don’t you call ash and see what she thinks about what I said?”

“That’s a great idea!”

I hang up and quickly call my best friend Ash.

“Well, well, finally the call I’ve been waiting for.”

“Did you get the pics I sent?”

“YES! You look STUNNING! And the few you sent with out you in them are gorgeous too! I set one as my Lock Screen.”

“Thank you and yay! Love that.”

“Anyways, let’s get to the real reason you called me.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Mags, word travels fast around here.”

So I explain everything to her.

“Giiirrrllll. That’s a lot and I love you for making him chase you, but I agree with your brother. You gotta take that leap and give him a little nibble here and there. Yes the questions you are leaving for him will help in that but a simple conversation here and there wouldn’t hurt. Maybe after the next flower or this next flower and the next after that, you can start to still give that chase but even a ‘I hope you are having a great day’ text is nice. Just something you know?”

“I hear you. I think that’s what I’ll do. I don’t want him to seem like he’s won so I still want that chase but yes I’ll text him every so often. Thank you, and I’ll have to thank Walker too. But enough about me, how are you?”

“I wanted to be the first to tell you so don’t be mad at anyone, I FOUND MY MATE!”

“ASHLEIGH MARIE! WHO!?”

“Okay, okay, let’s calm down a little. So me and my mom went to visit my grandparents at her pack.”

“Oh yeah the BloodSun pack.”

“Well.. the Alpha is my mate!”

“Ashleigh! We are Both going to be Lunas!”

“We have training to go through and here it’s really strict.”

“I’ve heard but you are built for it. All you’ve done til now, you are totally ready for that challenge.”

“Thanks Mags. I know you’ll do well too. I love you, I’m gonna get going.”

“Love you too! Bye!”

I throw my head down. Wow. My best friend and I will be doing business with each other within the next 2-3 years. That’s crazy. Of course she’ll be done before I am because Knox and I aren’t at the right spot to begin. I take a deep breath and let it go.
