Chapter Two- Welcome

“Allow me to show you around…” Mark spoke without giving Sofia the chance to postpone his offer. Before leaving with her initial target, Sofia couldn’t help but look back at Max as he was already looking at her. She smiled to herself before shying away to the floor as she was brought to the first room right off the stairs. This had been the kitchen. A light maple was used for the cabinets that ended with a sink, fridge, dishwasher, and oven on one end and a long counter top on the other. Bar stools colored matte black were placed on the opposite side of the preparation table with the living room that set behind them. Through a small archway had been a small office placed with books on english literature which was the subject Mark taught at the college where Kyla had first met him. He also had books that were deemed the best in history such as “Moby d**k”,  “The Catcher and the Rye”, and one that made her scoff to herself at the irony of seeing “Lolita” gracing his shelves. Having now moved fully through the office, Sofia’s eye caught on the bedroom whose door had been ajar. Her curiosity grew the best of her as she saw the bed to be right within her line of sight. In a moment of broken focus, she thought of being thrown down onto the bed by Max as he would take advantage of her availability and consent before ravaging her until she would be sore. This fantasy was quickly shattered as she heard Mark’s voice tear her from her dream world and back to reality.  “This is the master bedroom. Norah and mine.” He clarified before moving towards the door, opening it further. Sofia had to keep her mouth from dropping open in amazement as she saw the room to be larger than any of the other ones within the home. There had been two small walls that supported a small set of steps which led to the bed that was somehow impossibly large. The color scheme itself had been that of a warm tan with a matching carpet and solid white finishes. There had been two chairs with their own desks on either wall and the walls themselves held more books and showed through to the other side of the bedroom. There had then been a small bathroom off center that was not shown to her at this time as Norah’s voice echoed behind them, making him nervous to be found with the new nanny in the bedroom. Due to this, Mark quickly moved from the room and further down the hallway until he stood at the base of the steps, with Sofia quick to follow.  “After you…” He instructed as she looked to herself with self-satisfaction as she knew the purpose of this was so he could watch her from behind. She confirmed this upon casually flipping her hair behind her shoulder to gain a glimpse of that very suspicion being affirmed. Sofia then continued until she reached the top of the stairs with a smile on her lips the entire jaunt. Mark then took over dominance and brought her to the first door on her left that had been Mason’s. Dark blue and gray colored the room filled with age-appropriate decor. The bed itself held a headboard reaching near the ceiling that was filled with action figures such as Batman, Superman, and even The Ninja Turtles. There had been a bean bag colored navy blue, set off to the left and a full tracing table on the other side of the room. There had also been a playstation, the most modern edition with a thick stack of games beside the system itself and controls set on top.  “This one is Olive’s…” Mark spoke as he led Sofia to the room across from Mason’s to reveal the room of the teenager who would prove to be the more rebellious of the two children. Her room had been decorated in a mix of hipster and artsy with a large bed in the center of the room that had a dresser on the opposite side of the bed. Atop the counter of this dresser and bed combination had been a messy top where makeup, some spilled, and others fallen over had now sat. A television looked straight onto the bed with more shelf space below this that had been home to all of Olive’s notebooks that were filled with her entire life that she thought was “misunderstood”.  There had been two other rooms in this hallway and Sofia was led to the one of the left of the hall whose room had been marked by a single diamond handle where the others had been basic french swirl handles.  “This will be your room.” Mark spoke before pulling the door open to reveal an undecorated room filled only with a small desk overlooking a window and a twin bed with a basic red and yellow floral pattern. “You can decorate it as you wish, just no drilling anything in the walls without asking first.” “I don’t think I have ever even held a drill.” She spoke while playing the role of a dumb blonde that he seemed to melt into.  “We also have a rule of bringing no boyfriends over.” “That won’t be a problem.” She kept this mysterious, not confirming or denying if she had been spoken for as she moved from the room and moved to the only unopened door remaining.  “This is the nursery.” He opened the room to reveal an empty room, decorated with a unisex yellow coloring the walls and a large group of boxes having littered the room, with items that had yet to be put together.  “I can’t bring myself to put the stuff together just yet…” He spoke with a tone of pain leaving his lips where he meant to simply comment without thinking of the hurt it would cause. “Sorry...that is nothing of interest to you I’m sure…” “I know it may sound cliche, Mister Hillion, but it may help to talk about it…Whatever is bothering you.” He let out a sigh. “We don’t want to prepare too early in case Norah has another miscarriage...it took such a toll on her last time. We think she got too worked up since it has been almost a decade since our last child...that is why we sought the work of a nanny. I don’t think you know how incredibly happy I am to have you here to help us. And please...call me Mark.” As he said his name, he gave his award winning smile that she learned to abstain from as she simply smiled back. As they made their way down the steps while finishing the tour, it was discovered that Norah and Max had been in the middle of a heated conversation that one had attempted to ease the volume level.  “I’ll just go sleep in the pool house then.” “Don’t be that way...Max...If we would have known you were back, we would have arranged for you to sleep somewhere else-” “It’s fine, mom...I just want to go somewhere before dad rides my ass on why I’m back-” “Language please…” Norah spoke while placing her hand over her stomach, reminding Max of her need to remain calm during this pregnancy. It was at this time that Mark made his way into the living room to see Max and his mother looking to each other with deep secrecy, almost as if they had been discussing how to murder Mark. They simply parted as Max headed towards the door before being stopped by his father.  “How long are you back?” “A while.” “So all those years of classes and all that money on tuition for what?” Mark began to grow angry, a side of his seemingly fractured emotional palette that was warned to Sofia by Kyla. She spoke of signs of this, being clenched fists, clenched teeth, and then finally a yelling match. As he was only on the first of these signs, Sofia kept her mouth closed, fearing she would jeopardize her job before even starting.  “I am going to pay you back-” “With my OWN money?” “No. What I make…” “Doing what? Flipping burgers? Washing cars? Behind a register? That is the only jobs you can get while being a dropout.” “Please, boys…” Norah pleaded in the company of her guest. “We don’t have time to talk about this, your father and I have to go to a dinner. I wish you would have called because you have the nursery to sleep in-” “What about the poolhouse?” “It’s storing stuff...your stuff…” Mark spoke with a clenched jaw. Sofia noted how this was the one thing left before he went off so she decided to try and extinguish this by changing the subject.  “You have a beautiful home, Mrs. Hillion.” Norah looked to Sofia with surprise before smiling brightly. “Thank you. Would you be able to watch the kids for a few hours? They will probably spend the entire night in their rooms...but this way, if anything happens someone is here for them. That is if you don’t have plans-” “I can watch them.” “Great! Thank you!” Norah rushed up to her room to continue getting ready as she was left with the tense men of the Hillion family.  “If you want to clean out the pool house. Do something other than supermodels and emptying my bank account.” As he spoke in truth, Max was unable to dispute these claims and he simply moved to the pool house that had been in shot from the living room as Norah emerged back down the steps.  “We shouldn’t be too late, maybe until ten...if you need anything, there is enough food in the fridge to feed an army, enough channels to entertain even the most stubborn, and a takeout menu if you don’t find anything you like. You can use our prius if they need to go anywhere and all emergency numbers are on a sheet in the kitchen-please store them into your phone...I think that’s everything-” “Babe...calm down...I’m sure Sofia will do great.” He looked to her with a wide smile as she returned this to the couple.  “I hope you two enjoy your evening.” “You too.” Mark spoke as the couple removed themselves from the house and spoke of their approval of the new nanny as she waited for them to leave before going to the kitchen to look for the sheet of emergency numbers. Upon doing so, her gaze fell to Max across the way as he stood perfectly so she could see him. Her eyes were drawn to his bad boy aura as it resonated meters away to her deep in the house. His ripped dark jeans and cliche leather jacket made her bite her bottom lip but it was his tortured soul that seemed to make her nearly come just upon seeing him look to her.  “Drool much?” Olive spoke as she noticed this gaze as she moved from the stairs and towards the television before moving to the kitchen to get a snack. With her phone in her hand and an earbud in one ear, Olive moved past Sofia and to the fridge where she pulled open the double doors before analyzing her options.  “Do YOU have a boyfriend?” The question surprised Olive as she turned to face the one who questioned her.  “Perv.” “I’m asking because you are on your phone an awful lot…” “Yeah...I have friends...but you wouldn’t know what that’s like...would you?” Before Sofia could rebuttal, she heard her cell phone ring back in the living room and went to answer as Olive ran back up the stairs and towards her room.  “How did it go?” Kyla’s voice asked on the other end of the phone as Sofia smiled to herself with accomplishment.  “I got the job.” “I knew it! Has he shown any signs of liking you?” “Yeah….” As she spoke, Sofia’s eyes fell back onto Max as he was now shirtless and preparing to jump into the pool. He wore only his boxers now with his tattoos shown all the way to the center of his chest and down to his waist. She felt herself become easily distracted by this as she imagined him making her moan by ways she could only dream of.  “Earth to Sofia!” Kyla teased on the other end of the phone.  “Sorry, what?” “I was asking if he has asked you to his office yet?” “Actually they went out to dinner tonight. I’m watching the kids.” She paused as she watched Max’s perfect form as he dove into the water and emerged as if he was in a cologne commercial. She pursed her lips together and whined to herself before continuing her conversation with Kyla. “Do you know about their other son?” “Huh?” “I think his name is Max.” Kyla scoffed. “I met him once by accident….he is the most annoying piece of s**t on the farm if you get what I mean. He thinks every girl wants him and he has had all of them…” “Even you?” “Screw you.” They both laughed.  “I’d do him, but he’s not marriage material.” “And Mark is-was?” “I thought him and I had something...different. It’s not like it was illegal or anything, I am over eighteen and so are you. I just can’t wait to see the look on his face when he knows that this is all because of me.” “Now who sounds like a Bond villain?” Sofia teased.  “You are such a brat! Call me with any updates, b***h!” This was Kyla’s way of speaking to her friends as it was a term of endearment to her. To others, it made her sound like a hypocrite whose name she called was suited better for herself.  Sofia found herself staring at the one she knew was off limits. She knew she had a plan, and she had to remember this. With this moment alone, she thought of the plans she had to seduce Mark, but was unaware of the plans Max had to seduce her…
