Protect me from you

Chloe stomped her feet on the ground like a kid who's throwing tantrums just because she didn't get what she wanted or see what she wanted to see. She kicked the elevator door and let out a guttural groan before she crossed her arms against her chest abruptly and leaned back. "How come I didn't know that she has a girlfriend?!" Chloe said to herself, then she realized. She hasn't seen her for two years, how come she'll know about it anyway? The elevator finally arrived at the lobby and as she stepped out, all of her employees greets her on her way all throughout the exit. She never looks or greets them back as she's still pissed off for what she found out about Yohan. She fished out her phone again and dialed her fiancé. Actually, earlier when she's with Yohan, she was just pretending that Joey answered her call. But the truth is, her call was directed to his voicemail. After three attempts, Joey finally picked up his phone. "Hey, I'm sorry. The meeting just ended so late." He apologized. "It's okay, wanna eat dinner together?" Chloe asked. "Uh.. I really love to, but I have to bring home some paperwork that I have to finish. I'm really sorry, babe." "I understand." Chloe said understandingly but contrary to the frown in her face then she hung up the call without waiting for Joey to say anything. She shoved back her phone inside her bag and groaned then proceeded to the parking lot. "Chloe?" A guy who just came out from his car called her name. Chloe stopped from opening her car door and looked over her shoulder. "Oh my God, it's you!" "Aaron! Oh my, long time no see!" Chloe gasped upon seeing one of her friend back in highschool. Actually, Aaron is one of her pursuers but got rejected because Harvey came first before him and then eventually, they just settled as friends. Until Chloe Left to New York and she lost contact to everyone. They hugged each other with smiles on their lips. Not even aware at the pair of eyes glaring at them inside a Nissan GT-R 2022 model. Hands gripping the steering wheel tightly that turned her knuckles pale. "Hey, are you okay?" The woman sitting next to her asked when she noticed Yohan's darkened face. "I know that guy." Yohan said specifically to herself. "Who's guy?" The woman asked again. "That guy—." Yohan stopped when she realized that she didn't know the woman. She's just using her and planted a lot of fake information in her head. "What was your name again?" She asked. "Tracy." The woman replied with knitted eyebrows. Confused as to why Yohan is asking her name when in fact they are in a relationship for a year now. It's all in her head because Yohan put it on them. "Nevermind." Yohan dismissed when Chloe and Aaron get in separate cars. Yohan continues driving and tail Chloe's car behind. Until they reached a fine restaurant where their meeting was held. Yohan immediately looked for someone waiting for the brunette, but she didn't see Joey. Instead, the guy with Chloe earlier approached the brunette and they both entered the restaurant. "Whoa." Yohan gaped and she chuckled. "What?" Tracy asked. "Nothing, let's eat here." Yohan replied and she stepped out of her car, not even bothering to open the door for Tracy and she walked straight to the establishment without looking at her company. When she got inside, her eyes landed immediately at the two people sitting at the far end corner, who seemed to be having a happy conversation as she could see the smile on Chloe's lips. "Good afternoon, ma'am." The same hostess greeted them and since she remembered Yohan, she already assumed that she's going to meet Chloe and she guided them to the brunette's table. Chloe looked up when she noticed the hostess stopped on her side then she furrowed when she saw Yohan. "Yes?" Chloe asked with her left eyebrow raised. "Uh, this table is taken." Yohan said the obvious which confused the hostess. "Oh I thought that you had a meeting with Ms. Smith." "Oh no, we don't have an appointment with each other, we're here to eat." Yohan said politely. "I'm really sorry, ma'am." The hostess apologized quickly and she bowed her head to Chloe. "Please follow me this way—." "I'll just take the table next to them, my feet couldn't bear to take another step." Yohan said, making Tracy snorted and slapped her arm. Chloe leaned back a bit to see the woman behind Yohan and if she could raise higher her eyebrow, she would've done it. "I'm really sorry for the mistake ma'am." The hostess apologized again before she guided Yohan and Tracy to the next table behind Aaron. Yohan sat on the other side facing Chloe, while Tracy took the seat across Yohan and her back facing the back of Aaron, so Yohan and Chloe could see each other. "Do you want to find a new restaurant?" Chloe asked when she could feel irritation seeing Yohan in front of her with a smug smirk on her lips. "What? No, it's fine, this place is beautiful." Aaron said while his eyes admiring the place. "Anyway, did you know those ladies earlier?" Aaron asked when his eyes had a glimpse of Yohan then he turned back to Chloe. "Not totally, but the woman with short hair is my business partner in the new project. They are going to fund it." Chloe replied, eyes still at the back of Tracy, feeling upset that her employee didn't even recognize her and having a polite greet just like how all of her employees do whenever they will see her outside the company. Though it's not really necessary because she would ignore her anyway, but she's still upset. "Oh I see." Aaron said and he reached for Chloe's hand that's resting on top of the table. Chloe shifted her gaze from Tracy's back to Aaron. "I missed you, how have you been?" Chloe smiled at him and took back her hand subtlety, not wanting to offend the man. "I'm good, actually I'm getting married by the end of the month." "Oh." Aaron all could say and he didn't even try to hide the disappointment in his voice. "I thought that you and Harvey broke up?" "How'd you know?" Chloe asked. "Well, that was the talk of the town two years ago." Aaron shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah we broke up two years ago, sometimes, some people aren't really meant to be." Chloe said and she stole a quick glance to Yohan, who was just looking outside the floor to ceiling glass window but her ears were on the next table, listening to their conversation while Tracy scanned the menu. "I know and it's sad." Aaron said. "So who's the super lucky guy?" He asked. "Joey Reid. You know him." "Joey Reid? As in the CEO of the J enterprises?" "Yeah." Chloe replied. "Wow, I love his cars. I actually bought his new model of car." "Really? Well, thank you." Chloe smiled at him. She could've been so proud because her fiancée was one of the top companies that sold good cars in their country. "No need for that, I just really love their cars." Aaron said. The waiter finally arrived at their table and had one of those smiles, and such a calm way of speaking, that he set the right ambiance for the meal to come. After he put down everything, he popped out the cork of the wine and poured it into two glasses and handed it to them. Chloe thanked the waiter before excusing himself and leaving their table. "Can I use the bathroom?" Tracy said, which made Yohan look at her and nodded her head. "I'll be back in a minute." She said before standing up. Chloe overhead Tracy and she immediately excused herself even if she's in the middle of her meal to follow the woman in the bathroom. "Sure, go ahead." Aaron said. When Chloe and Tracy were gone from their sights. Aaron turned his head to look around if someone was looking in his way, when he made sure that everyone was busy with their meals and chattering, he fished out something from his pocket and slipped it into Chloe's drink and to his glass. Unfortunately, he didn't look behind him where a devil is watching him and saw everything he did. Yohan clenched her jaw while glaring at Aaron. She wanted to kill the guy at that instance but she prevented herself from doing so and just watched him. Tracy and Chloe finally came out simultaneously from the comfort room, both wearing a resting b***h face. Aaron pretends that he's busy eating and didn't notice Chloe approaching their table. "What happened?" Yohan asked. "I didn't know that my boss was sitting next to our table." Tracy frowned. "And?" "And she was mad at me for not giving respect to her." She said and rolled her eyes. "I mean, I didn't even notice her, was it my fault?" Yohan didn't say anything and just stood up. Tracy looked up to her with confused eyes. "I'm just going to use the bathroom." Yohan said and she walked to the next table. When she passed to Chloe's table, she intentionally hit the wine glass and it spilled all over the table. "Oh my god!" Chloe exclaimed and she stood up abruptly, same with Aaron. "Oops, sorry." Yohan said half meant and she called a waiter to take care of the mess she made. "Are you freaking serious, right now?" Chloe asked her in disbelief. "It's an accident." Yohan said nonchalantly. "Ugh!" Chloe groaned gutturally and decided not to engage into an argument with Yohan and just dismissed the accident. After the mess had been cleaned, Yohan continued her way to the bathroom but she halted when she heard Aaron offering his glass of wine to Chloe. She turned a 180 turn and walked back, but she stopped again when Chloe refused to take it and asked for another glass to the waiter. She smiled and went to the bathroom which she really did not need but she needed to continue. "I'm sorry but I need to use the bathroom again." Chloe said to Aaron. "Sure sure, no problem." Aaron said with a wide smile on his lips. Though Chloe finds it weird, she just shrugged it off and made her way back to the bathroom. She went straight to the sink, took a tissue and wiped her clothes that had some spilled wine in it. "I thought you had a date with Joey?" Yohan asked after she opened the door of the cubicle where she was. Chloe looked at her through the reflection mirror and rolled her eyes. "I do, but he'll be late and I happen to meet one of my highschool friends so we decided to catch up." Chloe said and she stopped from wiping her clothes when she realized something. "Why am I even explaining to you?" She scoffed. "I resigned as your driver/bodyguard three years ago but here I am, still trying to protect you from bad people." "Why don't you just protect me from you?" Chloe remarked as she threw the tissue at the bin and was about to go out but Yohan grabbed her arm. "What?!" "Don't drink anything at that table or you'll regret it." "You don't get to tell me what I will do!" Chloe yelled and took back her arm abruptly and she stepped out from the bathroom. It was not meant for her to see it but she did. She saw how Aaron slipped something in her drink just exactly as she came out and after the waiter left the table. And she hates to admit it, she may have to follow Yohan this time. "Are you okay now?" Aaron asked when Chloe sat back. "Yeah. But I think I have to go." Chloe said as she picked up her things. "What? So soon?" "I still have a date with Joey so—." Chloe stopped speaking when she saw Yohan sat back to her seat while looking at her intently. And she felt a bit irritated when Tracy fed Yohan a slice of steak. And she didn't know what on earth had gotten into her and she took the glass of wine and drank it while looking at Yohan. Yohan stopped from chewing and she heaved a deep breath to calm herself after she swallowed the meat. "We should go." Yohan said when Chloe and Joey left their table. "What? I'm still not done eating —." Tracy paused, then her eyebrows knitted as she looked around. "Where am I?" She asked. Yohan walked away without saying anything. She went to the cashier and pay the meals with her card and ran to the exit. Her eyes immediately looked for Chloe but she didn't see her. She ran to Chloe's car but the woman wasn't inside, then she remembered that Aaron drove his own wheels. "Damn it!" Yohan growled and walked back to her car and drove away as fast as she could, trying to find Aaron's car. Until she saw a familiar black sports car that turned left into a hotel entrance. She's not sure if Chloe is in that car but she still followed it and when the car stopped at the parking lot of the hotel, she didn't waste any second and she got out of her car. Aaron opened the backseat and he leaned down to carry Chloe, who seemed so groggy and couldn't walk by herself. Then he bring her into the lobby of the hotel. Yohan made a hissing sound and she fished out her phone from her pocket. "Jess." She said with her demonic voice when Jess answered the call. "What's wrong?" Jess asked, just by only hearing Yohan's voice from the phone, she already knew something was not right. "I may fail to be a good person. And I'm already apologizing for breaking our rules." Yohan said as she hung up and shoved back the phone inside her pocket before following Aaron and Chloe inside the hotel with a certainty of killing a human today. _______
