Chapter Three

"I'm glad you have decided to join us for Christmas this year. Meeting my grandchild Is a blessing. She looks just like you." My mother said with a smile before sipping some of her hot cocoa. It has been a day now since Destiny and I's arrival and things were going a bit better than expected. There is still some tension with my dad and I but it seems he's taking Destiny's presence very well. They were actually in the living area with Marcus, making Christmas cards. "You seem a bit off though, what's wrong?" "It's nothing but the tension that is still between dad and I is strong." I sighed. My mother reached over the island and grabbed my hand. "Give him some time, he'll come around. It looks like he's enjoying the Angel." She smiled as the sound of giggle came from the living room. "I guess so." I smiled. "Well, to get your mind off everything and so forth, I need you to help me at the shop. Marcus is supposed to bring the lights." I nodded. "He told me about it. I would love to help." Her smile brightens. "Great, do you think you too can run into town and get them. I have to start on some Christmas cookies. I'm pretty sure my grandbaby would love to make cookies with her gamma." My eyes widen in shock. "Gamma, is that what she calls you?" "Yes, but I don't mind. She's adorable." She said. I shook my head. I guess my baby was enjoying her time here getting to know her immediate family. "Here you go." My mother handed me money. "This is for the lights. Make sure your lazy brother doesn't get the plain white ones. I need color in my shop." I chuckled. "Yes, ma'am." I walked out of the kitchen door that leads right into the living room. Destiny looked towards the door before she got up and ran to me with a piece of paper in her hand. "I drew this for you, Mommy." She cheesed, wager for me to take the picture. "Wow, this is one pretty Christmas tree. You think you can draw another one." Destiny nodded her head before running back to the coffee table, covered with plenty of copy paper, crayons, and markers. I looked over at Marcus who already stood with his keys in his hand. "Ready?" I nodded my head and kissed my angel on her head before following Marcus out the door. I felt uneasy with Destiny being stuck with my parents but I knew she was in good hands. We got in the car and Marcus and I caught up on old times. "So you're a journalist. What happened to be a doctor?" I smacked my lips. "You should know the answer to that. If I was in surgery and blood was everywhere, I'd pass out." Marcus chuckled at my dramatic tone. "I see you, sis. So you like journalism?" "Yeah, it pays my bills and provides for my daughter. I also love to write, it's my passion." I smiled. I still am proud of myself for doing well in a career. "Well, I'm proud of you. You keep being great." He said as he pulled up to a store. We got out and continued our sibling conversation. "So you're in retail?" I questioned as he opened the door for me and we entered the store. "Yeah. I own a wood company. You know how it's always cold here." "Why not move?" I questioned him. "We all can't get away like you, sis." He said as he walked a few steps to a rack full of lights. A frown was on my face wondering what he meant. I opened my mouth but then quickly closed it. I didn't want to cause trouble with him, so I decided to leave it. "These are nice." He stated. I shook my head, noticing they were plain with no colors. "Mom did want color." I reminded him. A low groan left his lips in irritation. I chuckled lowly before walking over to a light reindeer. It was in a big box and what surprised her the most was the sale. Five dollars sounded like a deal. The reindeer had many colors on it. I hummed in thought, maybe ma won't mind another deer in the yard. **** Finally, after getting the lights, I was packing them in the car. Marcus ran down the sidewalk into another store. I sighed in relief when I got everything in the back seat. I turned and I was smacked into a hard body causing us to fall in the large pile of snow. I landed right on top of the hard body and caught myself from falling closer to him with my bare hands in the cold snow. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I don't pay attention to." I spoke quickly just as a masculine voice spoke the same time. "It is alright, I didn't see you." I froze up. That voice. I looked the man in the face, a shock expression appeared on his. Never did I think I would see him again and it's crazy that I still remember his face. Even way before that night in bed. "Jennifer?" He questioned. My heart stopped. He still tempered my name even after our drunk affair. Oh, I couldn't do this. I lifted myself off him and quickly stood to my feet. I turned to get in the car but was stopped when a hand grabbed my wrist. "Don't run." He said in a pleading tone. I couldn't breathe. This was crazy. I didn't know what to say. I wished for my brother to hurry up. "J-Just let go," I told him calmly. "No, I just won't talk," I sighed, ending my struggle. "How've you been?" He let go of my wrist I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I was still in shock, seeing him after 3 years. "You know, for a conversation to work you have to speak back." He told. A smirk forming on his face. "Well, what do you want me to say? It's been 3 years since the affair, drunk affair." I said in my still calm tone. He rubbed a hand behind his neck. "Yes, that was one wild affair." He said, his smirk never faltered. I sighed. He must have noticed that I found none of this amusing because he stopped and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry but for real, how you been?" He smiled. "I've been good." I returned the smile. I was debating in my mind whether or not to just tell him about Destiny. Hey, Diego. You have a daughter. You knocked me up the night you took my virginity. "That's good. You look great. I never expected to see you, especially down here. What brings you here?" "My family, my parents live down here. My daughter and I are spending Christmas here." "Daughter?" He questioned in curiosity. "You have a daughter?" "Yes,"...I took in a breath. I might as well tell him. He's right here. "Diego, I—" "There you are, sire." An older man ran towards us. Great timing, not. "Sire?" I questioned. The older man spoke quickly. "Yes, sir. Also known as his majesty." The man spoke, looking me up and down with disgust. "I don't—" "He's the Prince soon to be King. A commoner like yourself wouldn't know it." I frowned and looked over at Diego. I noticed his face flushed with irritation. "Enough, Burgl," He then looked to me. "Don't mind him, Jennifer. He can be an ass." He spoke through clenched teeth. "We have to go, your mother is very impatient." Soon to be King. Didn't know that sort of title exists. "Just give us a minute." Burgl looked at me with a suspicious glare before walking away with bags. I cleared my throat before giving Diego my attention. "I guess we'll see each other around," I curtesy "your majesty." A laugh came from him. "A see you around, hug." He offered with open arms. I playfully rolled my eyes before walking into his embrace. Wrapping my arms around his muscled back and his around my shoulders. I took in his scent and he smelled of spice. I breathed before pulling away from him. I met his beautiful eyes that were mesmerizing. I then have seen a flash of our daughter. I cleared my throat for like the one-hundredth time. "Diego, you ha—" "Your Majesty! The queen is getting impatient !" I sighed. Diego looked down at me. "I'll see you around, Jennifer." He said. I watched him walk away to get into the black limo and was off. I sighed. Still strangers but we have a daughter. A daughter I want to tell him so badly about. She really is his twin. Exact. Just then I heard Marcus call my name, pulling me from my thoughts. I sighed as I got into the car with him and we were off. How was I going to explain this?
