Melody thought about the schedule Patterson’s marketing director had given her for her television appearances to promote her tour. She didn’t like to do the talk shows, because they all put her in front of live audiences, but he’d arranged for her to do three of them. She tried to argue that people would come to the concerts without the exposure, but ultimately had no choice but to follow the orders David Patterson handed down. All the way to the restaurant she complained to Hal. “Melody, we can’t cancel them now. It would generate bad press,” Hal said. “We’ll just make sure you sing before the interviews.” “Not the point.
