Chapter 3

Ria's POV Maya was right, he was powerful. Tension filled the room just by his statement. His gaze landed on me, then back to Jolyne. The color of his eyes looked like that of Isaac, but slightly darker. “I wasn't preying on her, I was just teaching her manners,” Jolyne quickly said. “How do you teach what you don't know?” Jolyne’s expression changed. It was a little satisfying to watch. “Are you saying this to me because of a human?” She asked. “I am saying this to you because a ranking vampire shouldn't be picking on a weak human girl.” Got It! He called me weak. He didn't say anything else, he put his hands in his pocket and turned to leave. His aura was crazy as f**k. Jolyne glared at me before stomping her feet on the floor and matching out of the cafeteria in total fury. Maya burst into a wide laughter as soon as she left. “Did you see her face? God damn it!” I saw her face, but I was more focused on Marcus' face. Maya and I headed back to our dorm shortly, she helped me unpack my stuff and arranged them. She talked while we were at it. She had probably told me the names and personality of every teacher in Oathblood before dark. I laid on my bed tiredly as I yawned. Maya looked at me weirdly. She was also laying on her bed. “Do you wanna sleep?” she asked. “Yeah.” “Vampires do not sleep,” she smiled. Ohhh… That's what the weird look was for. “Doesn't it hurt? You know… You get tired yet no sleep.” “No, it doesn't, our DNA is stronger than human's. When we get weak, we fall into a trance.” “Woah…” “Yep, it happens once every few months.” “How do you pull out of the trance?” I asked. “Another vampire pulls us out,” she answered. It sounded weirdly cool. I was learning a lot from her. Before I fell asleep, my mind wandered back to the vampire prince, the way he defended me earlier. Though it was more like he was putting Jolyne in her place rather than defending me. Maya said he was dangerous, but I think he was the good kind of dangerous. The loud ring of my alarm woke me up the next morning. I rubbed me eyes tiredly. Shockingly, Maya was already dressed, seated on a rocking chair, and fiddling with some needles and wool. It was a creepy sight to wake up to. Vampires were incredibly haunty creatures. “Morning,” she said, her eyes fixed on what she was doing. “Morning…” I replied awkwardly. I quickly went into the bathroom, got dressed, did my morning routine and prepared for lectures. Maya waited for me. We walked to class together. Today was less eventful, or so I thought. Principal Weems called me to her office. Locating the place alone was very hard, but I did successfully because Maya already gave me directions. I knocked gently on the door before walking in. The principal was typing on her laptop, her gaze locked into what she was doing. The energy around her office was terrifying, I thought Jolyne and the Vampire prince had powerful auras? Hers was way more dominating. “Sit,” she said. I sat on the chair in front of her. She stopped typing and raised her gaze to me. “It's good to have you here, Ria. No human has been here in years. Checking your academic standards, I couldn't help but feel like the school needs you.” “Thank you ma'am,” I said nervously. “You must have heard that Oathblood Academy has strict rules.” I nodded. “And we do not take it likely when any of these rules are broken.” “Yes ma'am.” “Your conduct here should be nothing but impressive, any declination will result to immediate expulsion,” she added. “Yes ma'am,” I said again. I knew she wasn't warning me, she was threatening me. I read the rules in the letter sent before coming here, there were weirdly strict, but my courage made me agree to them. There wasn't much I could have done. I was a lowly orphan, missing out on a opportunity to study at a good academy wasn't a choice. “Dismissed.” I stood up, gave a slight bow, and I left her office. Damn! It was so suffocating in there. While walking back, I stumbled into someone amidst the dark hallways. He had his head down as he was coughing violently. “Are you okay?” I asked in panick. “I… I am… Ughh… Ughhh…” He couldn't speak. “Do you need water?” It was dark, I could barely see his face. He didn't answer me, he only kept coughing. Then I realized he was coughing out blood. “Lets get out of here first,” I placed his arm around my shoulder as I led him out of the dark hallways. He has a lot of weight but I bared it. When we slowly came into light, I saw his face clearly, though some hair strands were covering his eyes. Marcus, the vampire prince. He was so f*****g gorgeous. Shit Ria! He is in pains and you're thinking about his looks. “Should I take you to your dorm?” I asked. Holy s**t! I didn't even know where the male dorm was. I didn't even know anywhere, I could get him lost. “My serum…. Ughh… I need my serum,” he said in struggle. “Serum? How do I get your serum?” I asked. Wait… Was he like asmathic in the vampire way? Does he have a terminal disease? I was still thinking when I felt a sharp pain on my neck. It stung hard, very hard. Marcus bit me, he drew out blood from my body. “Ahh… Ahh…” I cried. His eyes turned bloodshot, then he broke away. I almost fell to the ground, but he caught me in his arms. My eyes slowly closed, and I passed out. … I woke up in a well lit room. My eyes scanned the area, this wasn't my dorm, and it as hell wasn't my home. “Don't panic.” His voice came from the side. I turned to him. Marcus. I was with him… Somewhere… His dorm? Then I remembered exactly what happened. I placed my hand on my neck, I could still feel the impact of his bite. This mother fucker! “Monster! You bit me!” I yelled. He didn't look bothered, he slowly moved closer to me. “Watch your tone little human, or I'd show you what a real monster could do?” I swallowed my empty throat. He fed on me, now he was threatening me. Maya was definitely right. He was dangerous, so f*****g dangerous.
