Logan's POV
"Can't you find a much better man than him, Alice?"
The old man with bleached hair's words actually made my anger rise in an instant. He had no right to insult me, but thinking about his position, all I needed right now was calm.
The entire air in this room seemed to be sucked out in just one straw. James Haris was a businessman with a name, and I would use that to my advantage. I repeatedly managed my emotions to get a satisfying, sweet taste.
A snickering sound came from beside me. "Why are you angry?" her body seemed to stiffen even more. Since we headed to this house, she had repeatedly muttered about her fear of facing her father.
Various curses came out of her mouth. She could have run away or just disappeared. That's not what I wanted, so I calmed her down. But those unstable emotions came back because of the intense pressure. That sexy little body of hers seemed to have a hard time controlling herself.
Occasionally, I saw her eyes twitch as she fought to keep looking at her father. "Dad told me to study. Logan is a very extraordinary man."
That's right!
There's nothing wrong with me at all. I'm an extraordinary, seductive man, and many admire me. I'm so glad that Alice is on my side; she has fallen under the influence of my love.
She was the one who was seduced first and deliberately opened her legs to give me heaven on earth. This opposition was like fireworks and made a line of pride on my face.
"You dare to fight now, Alice!" James shouted. There was an instant silence. The woman beside me was like a cat that had just been doused with water.
This was not good, and it was time for me to prove myself.
"Mr. James, we both love each other. We will stay together." I explained as politely as possible. Just by judging me, he should feel lucky.
James only has one child, Alice. With Alice's abilities, it won't be able to keep the Greenland company, and he definitely doesn't want to lose Alice.
I heard that even though Alice had some hard lessons, her family often spoiled her.
The firm grip on my collar instantly made my body lift up slightly. The old hand that still looked muscular was about to touch my face. Even though I knew I could dodge it, I accepted the punch that James had just thrown.
"Dad!" the screaming voice filled the room. Alice immediately grabbed my hand and quickly got in front of me. "Don't do that to Logan. I love him!"
I knew Alice would stand up for me. I knew she would fight this fight the way I wanted her to. She was trying to brace herself for me. That innocent-looking woman couldn't get away from me.
With blood coming out of my mouth and falling to the floor, a faint grin appeared on my face. I deliberately let out a big cry.
"Alice, you're in a relationship with someone else's husband! Rumors about it have already spread, and it's very embarrassing!"
The direction of James' attention now changed to Alice. He held both shoulders until Alice's body swayed. "Listen to your father, you can get another man instead of this man. You've brought shame to the Haris family."
I held Alice's hand with a specific intention. I was like a captain, giving her peace of mind in this uncertainty. Her tight grip on my hand proved that she depended on me.
"Father should know that he's going to divorce his wife. I was in a relationship with him, not snatching him. It's that woman's fault for spreading rumors." She took a breath first. "You should have helped me to settle these rumors! But you believed the rumors instead. That's slander, father!"
Good. That's how you should behave.
She has no problem with lying. After all, my marital relationship with Aurel is very bland. She makes my shoulders heavier because of what she does. It's useless, and talking together makes no sense at all.
Alice's words were valid. She saved me from the rotting boredom of the relationship.
Alice's tears streamed down her face, her body trembling. This was probably her first time being scolded by her father.
James snorted. He looked the other way until the room had a heart-stopping emptiness.
"...You don't believe me, Dad...?" Alice's hoarse voice made her look even more pathetic. She became a pleading figure.
With her weakened breathing and the sound of snot pulling from her nose, she really looked pathetic at the moment.
James turned around. "So that woman lied?"
Alice nodded immediately.
I didn't want to waste this opportunity and slowly stood beside Alice. I precipitated my impatient attitude to get a big catch.
"Mr. James, we are being mistreated like this. Your beloved daughter has been made to feel ashamed by her slander." After all, I wanted him to see I was on Alice's side.
I could see a hint of doubt in his eyes, which turned into guilt as he maintained his position as the head of the family. He squeezed her hand more firmly.
"That woman will get her comeuppance for daring to make Haris' family name bad! She won't be able to live in peace."
Now, this man's anger had turned on the rightful person. I clearly remember the arrogance on Aurel's face just because she was dressed up and with a man. I knew for sure that man was a country gentleman who was paid for his body.
It was just that the thought of Aurel sleeping with that man upset me.
Hasn't she been begging me to love her? It was always me in his eyes, which annoyed me so much.
She can't be like the women out there.
Alice released the hand that was holding me and hugged her father tightly. "Thank you, father. You're very reliable. I want that woman to suffer so badly, I'll make her prostrate at my feet."
James nodded his head repeatedly. I think I've made it into the Haris family. Then, with an official bond, I can get more things.
After just a few seconds of my mind developing a grand plan, the room door opened suddenly, and a well-dressed servant looked at James quite sharply.
"Mr. James... we have a big problem."
Bringing lousy news that attracted all the attention. Something that left even me unable to speak and my head aching.
