Meeting a fellow survivor of Tower's anomaly.

Furthermore there was a strange notification in my status bar. It said ( Status - Dragon Awakening - 0.00001%/100%) It was the first time for me to see such a notification. Even within these five years there was no news about such notification. Furthermore there wasn't a single person with engravings similar to that of mine.
I was able to tell about my previous engravings as it said failure just as my ability really was. But right now it is different. I couldn't tell what IU stands for. I was at least sure that it wasn't as bad as before. I only thought that I would be able to become a little stronger.
But again when I thought about the notification bar of dragon awakening status I felt like I could grow more. I thought that I would be able to be on par with the hunters of Rank A or S at most. I didn't hope for much as I knew that hoping too much and getting nothing would result in a great despair for me.
I wanted to check my new abilities. So I went to the tower. I didn't move forward but tried to clear the first floor. I was amazed at my own abilities. Unlike last time I was at least able to minimize the injuries. This time I was able to kill 10 goblins in total. Though it wasn't so great compared to others it was still enough as it was worth 80000 in cash.
I was quite satisfied. Also my stats increased again. Each by five more points. Also the dragon awakening went up by another 0.00005 and it reached 0.00006% though not a great achievement I was quite satisfied by it.
I calculated the total stats that I would gain by the time I completed my awakening. It turned out to be 10 million stats points on each of my stats. Realizing this my top went off. It was an unbelievable number. I thought that it wasn't possible.
But to make sure that it isn't the right thing I thought of entering the tower again. But there was a problem. As I wasn't a registered hunter, I wasn't eligible to sell monster cores to the hunter guild. For that I needed a partner.
I didn't want others to know that I have got some sort of special awakening as it may arouse many questions. Also researchers may try to make me their lab rat. Thinking these sorts of things I couldn't help but shudder.
I started to feel anxious. I was lucky enough that my stats were growing but what use would it be if I can't earn by myself. If I register with the hunter association right now then many questions would arise. Such as what my engraving is? Or why did my rank remain the same while my stats grew? I am not prepared for such things at all so I gave up on the thought of registering as a hunter.
I know what I am about to do is considered illegal but I have no other choice than to do it this way. Only when I stand at the top of the food chain will I be able to put my words forward without anyone to deny it. Until then I need to stay low key.
I decided to go back to my home until I figured out a way but I was blessed. Just as I was about to return I saw a familiar figure. She was one of the survivors of the anomaly. She was a C rank hunter. I thought that it would be better for me to not involve myself with her. But to my surprise she was the one who made contact with me first.
" Hey you, aren't you the same hunter who survived the tower's anomaly along with us?" I didn't know what to reply. I just wanted to ignore her but now I was really helpless. I thought that it wouldn't hurt to greet or chat with a fellow surviving hunter. So I replied" Yes, I am. By the way, how are you doing right now? "
She chuckled as she said" Pretty good. You know after surviving that dungeon I was blessed. Now I am an A rank hunter. Isn't it great? Were you also blessed?"
My face twitched at her endless questions but what could I do. Since I made a decision to interact with her then I should see it till the end. I can't just back away, can I? Feeling helpless I sighed" No, I am not as lucky as you are. Anyway congratulations on your new awakening."
She frowned at my reply. I felt a chill thinking that I told her something that I should have. And my speculation went true.
" Huh. How could this be? You look different from before. Your figure looks sturdier than before. Are you trying to hide your rank just because it is lower than mine? Don't worry I won't tease you even if you were the same."
I just nodded her head as I finally felt relieved. But something strange occurred in my mind. It was indeed true that my physic has undergone some changes. Before coming to the tower my body wasn't this good despite having my stats grown.
I recalled the things that happened on the first floor of the tower. Finally I came with two conclusions. First one was simple as I thought that the reason may be the growth stats but I soon shaked my head as it was unlikely to be the case.
Also my body that should have been dyed by the monster's blood was as clean as just bathed. I concluded that it should have been because of the monster's blood. But I needed to verify it by myself.
Thinking that I was in trouble she asked me. "Hey why are you dawdling like that? Are you in some sort of trouble? You can tell me, maybe I can help you out."
I wasn't sure if I should tell her or not but after a while of being pestered by her I gave up and told her my situation. I didn't told her about my unique awakening but just told her that I want to be low key.
After a while of convincing she believed me. Finally I got someone to help me with my current issue. She just said that she would take 30% of the amount for helping me. Also I would need to hunt my share by myself. It was a little selfish of her but still it was better than nothing for me.
I told her that I would remain on the first floor whereas she went to the 3rd floor. Both of us agreed to meet at the entrance of the tower once we finished our raids.
I agreed to her as it was a beneficial proposal for me. Since I would be alone I need not worry about being found out by others. It was a great deal. We parted our ways. Only after parting our ways did I realize 'Oh s**t, I forgot to introduce myself and also forgot to ask her name. Well I should ask her next time.'
It was no use wondering about such useless things so I entered the first floor. ' Monsters here I come. I also need to verify my speculation. Is it because of these monster bloods?' The first floor was a lair of goblins and rat monsters. They were weak but they remained in groups because of which it wasn't so easy to kill them.
Just as I entered the first floor, I encountered the rat monsters. It wasn't just a group but the entire herd. I didn't know if it was good or not but I didn't back away.
I lacked weapons but I needed weapons to deal with these rat monsters. I looked around and found an old kitchen knife. The stats of the knife were pretty useless but I thought. ' It's still better than having nothing.' How could I abandon the knife as I was facing exactly hundred rat monsters.
Kri.. Kri.. Kri..
The rat monsters attacked me. Fortunately enough I was able to dodge the attacks. Everytime I dodged, my Agility and perception stats grew. Everytime I landed a successful hit my strength increased. But there was something which was hard to increase. My mana. After reaching the stats of 20 my mana had remained stagnant.
After 10 whole minutes I cleared the rat monster's lair. My stats went up quite decently. Each of my stats went up by 15 and my awakening stats remained the same.
But as soon as the monster blood on my body began to turn into red mist my body seemed to change. Though a little it was still a noticeable change. The Dragon awakening Stat also went up.
It went up by 0.00015%. It was still great. Finally I found a way to improve my dragon awakening. I rushed to the goblins area and continued my battle. After an hour of time I finally cleared the first floor. I wanted to go to the second floor but I restrained myself as I knew haste makes waste.
I went back to the entrance of the tower after collecting the monster cores. I waited for her. After another hour she came out of the entrance. She was injured quite a lot. I thought that an A rank hunter should easily pass the 3rd floor. I felt something strange.
Indeed a mishap happened on her site. She said that she was robbed by a group of people. If not for the Rank A hunter on the opposite side she wouldn't have lost or Injured. As agreed upon I gave her my loots so that she can exchange them on my behalf.
In order to gain her favor I told her that she could keep 50% for today. She blushed. I exchanged contacts with her so that we could keep in touch. It was getting dark so I bid my farewell and left the place.
