Chapter9

Lucian's POV:

Thump, thump, thump. I could hear my heart beat so loudly, snapping out of it, i quickly slammed the door shut. I more or less ran to the sitting room, picked up the remote, but it seemed like I was trying too hard. I stood up, pacing around, that was worse. Deciding to go into the kitchen, I started cleaning the already squeaky clean counter. I was so nervous, I didn't even know why.

15 minutes later, Olivia came down carefully on the stairs. Her hair dry, she was still wearing the same clothes i gave her. My scent was still on it.

Clearing my throat, “I- uhm- I didn't mean to barge in, I got back and it was too quiet, I thought something had happened, I'm sorry".

She tucked her hair behind her ears, “It's f-fine, I took l-long in the s-shower".

“Oh goddess, mate is so adorable" Max, an alpha wolf, squealed like a baby; but I could only agree. She was cute, in the oversized outfit, hair tucked behind her ears, face looking down, she's adorable.

It was currently 9pm, I noted, as she took a sit on the couch, hands fiddling with the remote, face downstruck.

“Do you want to watch something?" I ask aa I move closer, maintaining a noticable distance. She nodded and placed the remote on the arm of the chair, i took it and showed her how to use it. Giving her to pick a movie, she picked lilo and stitch, I smiled internally.

I decided to keep myself occupied while she was watching tv. I got set to making lasagna, it was one of the meals I could make best, I always made the sauce from the scratch. It was almost my favourite.

The food was ready in an hour. Olivia was almost done with the movie.

" Little wolf?” I called. She paused the movie, turning to face me.

"Food is ready, you should eat” I say gesturing her to the dining table.

She gently stood up and took her steps gingerly until she got to me and the dining table. I had already served her food, she just took a fork beside and ate, very slowly, like she didn't want to let go of the taste. I watched her eat. Her eyes were still sunken inside. Her collarbones were so evident, she looked so skinny. I noticed she had a mole on her neck, like Sophie.

I quickly looked away. My chest ached as I thought about Sophie. Would she want me to have another mate? We were so in love, whatever I do, it'll always feel like I'm cheating on her.

“Are y-you okay?" The meek voice drew me from my thoughts.

"Yeah, I'm good” I said, forcing a smile on my face, finishing my food. Olivia had already finished by the time I was done, I packed both plates to the sink and washed them.

When I was done, Olivia was no longer on the dining chair. She was now on the couch asleep, curled to herself so tight, like she was protecting herself. She looked so deeply asleep, I couldn't even carry her, I didn't want her to panic again. I went upstairs to my room and took a blanket to cover her with. After covering her, i went upstairs, I had a lot to do tomorrow.

My alarm woke me up at 5am. i sighed. I had a meeting with the builders, they needed to build new houses. I also need to talk with the trainers to schedule a day for training. I begrudgingly showered and got dressed, by the time I was done, it was 7 already, the meeting was by 9.

Going downstairs, Olivia was still sleeping, so I stealthily as I could, I made breakfast for both of us, pancakes, eggs and sausages. When I was done, i covered hers, wrote a note.

“I'm out for alpha duties, your food is on the table, make yourself comfortable"

I placed it on the table on front of her, she was sleeping so peacefully, barely even moved. I covered her body well and left.

"Hello, Alpha” Fred, the builder, greeted.

"Hello, Fred, how are you?” I ask.

"I'm okay, Alpha. You wanted to see me about the new buildings?”

I gestured for him to take a seat.

“Yes, I need a new building, for one person, it should be on the free land not far from my house. Also, I got a complaint from the kindergarten school that they needed more classes, you should work on that."

“Yes, alpha,"

“How long would it take?"

He took a few seconds to reply.

“It could take months, about 3 months max"

I nodded, three months was still fair. It would give Olivia time settle in the pack and be comfortable.

" Thank you Fred, you're dismissed”.

"Goodbye, Alpha” He bowed and left.

I sighed and rested my back. I decided to use the mind link to talk to the warriors later, I just need to attend the meeting with the elders and I'll be free for the day.

It was around 12pm when I entered the meeting room. The elders were there already. The elders were the ones that made peace in the pack. They were rumored to have met the goddess, that she gave them the wisdom they have now.

They all stood up to greet me. I took a seat and waved for them to sit.

"Hello, Elders.”

There was a collective, " Hello Alpha”. J rest my back as I waited for them to start.

The head elder, Vincent, started, He was the first elder in the pack, he's over a 100 years old, but he doesn't look a day over 50, they all don't.

He cleared his throat, “Alpha, we heard you brought an Omega in"

It was alarming how fast news passed around the pack.

“Yes, I did" I replied.

“Well, you didn't consult us, the elders.”

I raised my brows, "Consult you? Since when do I have to consult you before doing anything?”

"Alpha, you know how omegas are. They attract stray alphas, the elders have had a meeting, we think she should be moved to the omega house” There was a collective head nodding and a few murmurs of agreement.

The omega house was a place meant for Omegas, especially ones in heat. Omegas release pheromones that makes alpha around them go crazy when they're in heat, omegas in heat or the ones with extreme pheromones are moved there. It's like a pack house but for omegas. They wanted me to take Olivia there, people can barely touch her!

" Excuse me?” I said, replying Vincent. My anger already building.

"We wouldn't want to start fighting off rogues when she's out in the pack” He said.

"Are you saying you don't trust my decision, Vincent?” I asked lowly.

He hesitated. Stuttered.

"With all due respect, Alpha, you don't always make the right decisions” Edgar, another elder that thinks he can control me said.

My eyes glowed. I could feel max pushing to take over.

"What?” Edgar seemed to not take the hint as he continued.

"Yes, alpha, Your mate died because you didn't know the right thing to do, we the elders are to make decisions for you"

I saw red.

With a swift speed, I went to his chair, gripped him by his neck, my eyes glowing, max pushing forward more.

“Say that again, I dare you" My talons were out, piercing his neck very slowly as ge struggled against me.

“A-a-alpha” He stuttered out, his face red, "Luna Sop-”

" Stop saying her name!” I seethed again.

My anger went over the roof as i remembered my dead mate again. My fingers tightened around his neck.

My talons dug into his neck, blood trickling down. His struggles became slow. I could see life leaving him.
