Travel
The crowd followed Genesee and her father back to the landing field. There, he retrieved her small bag of personal items she was allowed to bring with her. He handed it to her and they hugged before saying their goodbyes.
“You have your communication bangle. If anything should happen that invalidates our laws, contact us immediately, understand?” he told her, holding her face between his palms as he always did when he wanted to lecture her. When he was done, he would kiss her forehead and the tip of her nose, making her smile.
“I understand, Dadro. Tell Dai I already miss her.”
“I will. No tears, Genesee. You are ready. You are blessed to be a Charm. We will return in a year to retrieve you.”
