Encounter
It was a different guard, an older man by the name of Poel, who stood outside her door when she emerged with her empty receptacle. She explained her need to get more water, and he offered to lead her to the kitchen area, which had its own source of outflow from the community wells.
“Let me understand this better. There are conduits underneath the fortress which redirect the water from the wells to several other areas in the village?”
“Correct,” the man whispered more softly than the sound of their own footsteps on the stone floor.
“Are those areas leading into other houses, or to other wells?”
