Guarded
Her body wouldn’t stop trembling. Genesee wondered if it was because of her anger, or because of the confrontation she’d just had with the costell. Regardless, she hurried through the dim halls as she sought sanctuary and solitude.
Once she reached her room, she placed the small platter on a side table. She no longer felt hungry. She needed time to come to grips with what she’d seen, what she’d felt, and what she’d done. More than that, she had to find a way to deal with Carq’s responses.
