The Secret She Never Knew

Waking Up

Casey’s POV

I hear yelling I look around to see that I am in Sam’s arm I try to go unnoticed by everyone.  I just keep my eyes closed and listen.  Someone is saying that I belong to him.  Then someone is saying I am the queen and a mate.  Who is this person and what I have gotten myself into now?  He wants to take me to his room I will never let that happen no matter what even if it kills me its not like anyone will miss me.  Then some woman says they are acting like monsters and they need to act like men.  To straighten up that Sara needed me who was this Sara. I can feel someone getting close to me and smelling the air around me.  Why is he smelling the air who are these people, where am I?   I feel Sam become tense holding me a little tighter.  Sometimes this big galoot forgets just how strong he really is.  Then Sam notices I am awake reaches down whispering in my ear to slow my heart rate and relax.  That no one is going to hurt me I will be back in my office soon enough.

Sam looks at everyone and says, “I need to get her back to her office just in case she wakes up she does not need to hear this conversation since she does not know about what we are.  She thinks we are all humans, and we need to keep it that way until she get the little pup better.”

I think to myself what are they if not human they look like me for the most part expect for there size and good looks they look like everyone else I know.  Wait has everyone I have ever interacted with been whatever they are, what do I do now, how do I get out of this?  Can I ever get away from them or are they going to kill me because I know to much?  Now all I want is to go home and get away from all of this.  I want the safety of my home that I know is protected from everyone my own secret hideaway.  I feel someone lift me and care me somewhere.  Then I hear the hospital doors open with a cover being thrown over me and being cared up stairs feel the darkness on my skin and feel the relief of it take over me.  Then I feel myself being laid on a couch and Sam saying ok little doc you can open your eyes. 

Aaron says, “what she was awake the whole time.”

Sam replied, “yes I felt her heart rate increase during the arguing I whispered to her to slow it and told her to relax.  So, I could keep her alive and get her out of there.”

I slowly opened my eyes and see my two superhero’s standing before me.  They both want to know if I am ok before they reach for me Sam asks for permission to touch me.  I look at both men very confused as to why they are wanting to know about my well-being.  Sam sees the confusing and tells me honey we never wanted to hurt you.  You mean too much to us for that to happen.  We will protect you to the last breath you are our world you just do not know it yet.  Hopefully, we can help you see just who you are and how important you are to us as a whole species.  Then he said no more questions for now.  He knelt down touched my face and said are you really ok do you feel sick or want to throw up, do you need to hit someone?  I shake my head saying I am ok I just want to go check on the little wolf.  He backs away saying that he understands and that it is ok.

I slowly stand on shaky legs walking out of the room to the adjoining room to check on my patient.  Seeing as she is very stable, I decide to go ahead and wake her.  I pull out a syringe place it to her arm stick the needle in her IV shooting the medicine in just in time for Aaron to yell, no”, what have you done?  What was that you just gave her is she going to die, please tell me you did just not kill her?”

I look at him with a frown on my face then say, “no matter what I do I would never hurt a patient you have to know that about me.  If you think that little, then you know nothing about me.”  I stormed away very angrily then I hear her give a little whimper.  I turn on a dime and see the little wolf in pain.  I shove Sam and Aaron out of the way and start looking at all the monitors and checking a few other things.  I turn to Sam and tell him to get Ron and his family now so all this can be over she is awake, and her pet scan is clear.  I will have everything ready by the time the family gets here.  Sam runs out with Aaron to get everyone I go to the office gather everything up, tend to little wolf and by the time everyone gets back I gathered everything I need place it in a bag by my door before anyone sees.  They all come in almost at a run taking the door of the hinges rushing to the bed side only to see her still in wolf form, but no one says anything.

I clear my throat as everyone turns to look at me I suddenly feel very small next to all these people, but I hold my ground and say, “she is awake her cancer is gone and no surgry is required.  She just needs some help over the next few days starting with only a liquid diet, soft foods, as far as movement, she should stay in bed until she gets real food, then she can leave it will take a few weeks.  She will recover to the beautiful with that she once was.  She whimpers again everyone turns their attention to her, while everyone is focused on her I sneak out with my bag get in my plane and never look back.  Little did I know a couple of people noticed my exit, but by the time they got to me it was too late I was in the air and gone.
