The Secret She Never Knew

Liam's POV

I am heading towards my sister’s territory when the whiff of something hitting me.  It smells like wet pine after a rainstorm.  I have never smelled something so wonderful in my life is that my mate I smell.  I ask my wolf he is biting and pushing to get out.  He is so worked up I cannot get a straight answer out of him.  He notices the smell and wants to find out where it is coming from just as much as I do.  We reach the boarder only to be stopped by Hank Ron’s Beta.  I tell him I want to go to the village and now I am almost yelling at this point when I see Alex talking to someone I cannot make out.  The closer I look I see that it is Ron I have no idea what they are saying, and I do not care I just must find the source of that scent.  I have to know where it is coming from.   I look at Ron and my anger takes over with my wolf about ready to come out I growl at Ron blaming him for all the trouble that my family has had.  I take off after Ron to be stopped by my stupid sister saying this is not his fault, I look at her with hate in my eyes and the scent hits me again.  I take off at a full run knowing no one will catch me at this speed I smell the air once again.  The smell is coming from the hospital, so I head to that side of the village the smell is coming from the front of the building.  I round the corner to see two of Ron’s guards standing there with who is that no, what is that it is the source of the smell that I just cannot get enough of.  I slow to a walk go over to them before Sam grabs someone I think and pushing them behind him.  I yell mine and then Ron grabs me saying what did you say.  There is a loud yell we all look in time to see someone faint.  Sam catches whoever it is, and my wolf lets out a loud growl saying mine once more.  Everyone quickly looks shocked at me; not sure they are believing what they are hearing.

I ask my wolf what he means by that and he tells me that the little creature that Sam is holding belongs to us.  We need to kill Sam to get her away from him we must protect her from everyone.  She is ours and only ours we are the only one’s a loud to touch her or feel the softness of her skin against ours.  We must get her away from Sam, get her away from the unclean beast.  Save our mate NOW he yells at me.

I look at Sam and tell him, “give her to me now she is mine you cannot touch her.  You will ruin her wonderful scent with your horrible smell.  Give me my mate right now or die.”

Ron says, “Liam stop you do not know what you are asking she is not just any creature.  She is only a human are you going to let your mate be human.  You need to think about this Liam wait until she wakes up and you look into her eyes before you know for sure.”

Lilly steps up saying, “brother listen to what he is saying you do not know what you are doing calm down and think about this.  Let Sam and Aaron take her back to her room for the night so you can think about everything with a clear head.

Liam looks at all of them and says, “she will spend the night with me and no one else.” 

Sam replies, “over my dead body you will not be left alone with my little Dr.”

Liam growls, “that can be arranged I will kill you easily enough.  You will never touch her again do you understand me.  You are beneath her; she is to wonderful to be around you, you only bring her down.”

Sam replies, “you will only kill her, you do not even know who she is or how important she is to everyone.  You are just a monster that wants to control her, and I will never let that happen to her she is too important for that.”

“What do you mean I do not even know who she is,” Liam asks. Liam looked at Sam with a look a concern and questioning.

Ron say, “that she is the doctor who is curing Sara she needs to stay close to Sara to make sure everything goes like it is supposed to.  She is all the one that is helping with Lilly’s wolf we can just send her off.”

Then all of a sudden, I hear someone yell, “no one can touch her she must be put down now.”  We all turn to see my father and mother standing there.  My father stands there with anger all over his face looking at me then to Ron.  My father says son, “do you not smell her do you not smell the queen she is right here in front of you.  How can you be so blind calm your wolf and take a slow whiff of the air around her not her around her.”

I do as my father says calming my wolf finding my center and I take a slow deep sniff of the air around her and it hits me like a freight train.  I stumble backwards a little bite and give my father a cold stare.  I can smell it, but my wolf also smells my mate how am I supposed to handle this father what do you think that means I cannot kill the woman I am supposed to mate with.”

My father looks at me and says, “she ruined our whole family name, we have spent over hundred years fixing it.  Your mate or not she will die before she wakes.”

Lilly steps up to our father telling him, “that no one is laying a hand on her until Sara is awake.  That are family name does not mean anything without someone to carry it on.”

My father went to say something and my mother steps up telling my father to shut up that her granddaughter was more important, and if the doctor was someone that needed to be alive to save Sara.  Then everyone would play nice no matter how much it hurt anyone.  She also told me that if this really was my mate than I needed to win her not scare her.  Mother said right now if I were this girl, I would run from all of you monsters and never look back.  So, straighten up and act like men you are not monsters you present to be.  Mom also yelled at Sam asking how he would feel if Liam was holding his mate keeping them apart.  Sam lowered his head and apologized for his actions.  Saying he just wanted to keep her safe, he knew the mate bond was strong and would never keep mates apart.
