The Secret She Never Knew

Treatment Starts

I run back to the hospital to start treatment on the little cub, with Sam and Aaron right on my heels.  I go into the my lab go the fridge and get Cisplatin for the chemotherapy part which I will be adding Cyramza to help slow the spread we will also start the radiation treatments as well getting all the machines I need to start the treatment.  I asked Sam if he would bring me the linear accelerator, he looked at me very confused.  I said the big machine that rolls around the table.  I will also need the IV pump so do not push it out of the way when you bring it in.  Sam ran off to get what I need, while I asked Aaron to adjust the pup so that I could have that accuse to the veins that I needed to put in a central line to start the chemo and other meds that I have setting out for her.  I also needed to put her to sleep know that the first treatment is going to be very painful.  I give the little wolf a dose of sedatives based on her current weight.  After the sedation I hooked up the pump after I saw her eyes close for the last time, I said a little prayer to myself hoping that I would see them open again.   Sam walks in with the machine I tell him where to place it and he does as ask.  Wanting to know what to do next I tell him that all I need to do is start the treatment.  After everything is started, we just have to wait about 10 hours for the treatment to be done.  I told them that the first treatment would be the worst.  They ask me if I need anything or want to go anywhere while we wait.  I tell them that I need to stay with the pup at least for the first treatment to make sure there is no adverse side effects to any of the meds.  I tell them that if they want to go that it is ok, I will not tell Ron.  They both inform me that they would rather die they then go against him.  I stand here silent for a minute wondering where all these men that I have helped over the years find these guards that are so faithful.  It is kind of scary to me to think that the guards would give so much to someone else.  I do ask them to inform Ron that everything is started, and I will keep her sedated for the next few weeks until the dosage does not have to be so big to help with the pain.  Aaron steps out to contact Ron while Sam follows me into the office to talk about what the plan for the day is.

Sam tells me he has a great idea for the day.  I tell him during the day I try to sleep.  He looked at me and said really you plan on sleeping today.  I shook my head no but told him now I needed to leave town. Because he was getting to know me to well, and I could not be having that with a light chuckle.  He smiles at me cunningly to let me now me know the teasing game would begin.  I would now be his banter buddy someone that would have just as many come backs and never let him win.  Aaron enters into the room to find Sam on the couch and me at my desk doing some paperwork.  Sam tells Aaron he has a plan for the day they just have to get me on board with it.  Aaron smiles at Sam like they have some plan, and it involves me being the one in the line of fire.  I turn to them both to see what looks like some secret conservation they are having that I do not get to know about. 

I yell hey what are you two planning I think maybe I need to go find Ron and ask for different guards if you are going to plan secret attacks.  I do not feel comfort setting here with the looks you two are having between each other, lol.  Sam comes over to the desk leans down on it looking at me wanting to know what my favorite food is.  I raise one eyebrow saying that I really do not have a favorite food that I mostly eat fresh foods and only plain meat.  Sam says no juke food what is wrong with you everyone needs a twinkie now and then.  I tell him that junk food was never something that I got to eat growing up, so I never really got a taste for it.  He tells me that needs to change immediately.  That I needed a big intervention a junk food intervention.  Sam looked at Aaron and said I need to make a junk food run.   That he would be right back why Arron set up the rest in one of the empty rooms on the floor.  I said, “what are you doing now?  Where are you going?  What are you plotting against me?”

They both said in unison, “do not worry we would never lead you astray or put you in harms way you are too important for anything that foolish, just trust us little Dr.”

I said, “wait I do not what you to get into trouble so that we can do anything I am fine just setting here.”

I want to do this for you, you told me that you never got to do anything fun because you always had to work at night and go to school.  I want you to experience what it is like to have friends and fun.  Aaron and I maybe not be the best people to have as friends but we both know how to have a good time trust us you will enjoy the whole day I promise.”  Sam says.

Aarons says, “speak for yourself Sam I am a great friend.  I always try to be the friend that everyone wants.  Unlike you Sam your butthead.”

They start bickering back and forth, while I go check on the little one to make sure she is ok.  Only to come back to find Sam and Aaron both gone to do what I have no idea.  I am sure I will find out very soon what those boys are up to.  Then I will most likely see how much trouble they can get me into lol.  I am not sure if I am going to like being here or not, I guess only time will tell.  With a smile on my face I am beginning to see that my future does not look so lonely after all, but who knows how things will turn out.
