Tina checked she had the house keys and left the old school boarding house, carefully locking the door behind her. She had definitely seen Audrey. She had spoken to her. And yet, and yet...
She teetered on her high heels through the snow to the end of the drive where she saw Kirill walking past, looking wet and muddy.
‘What you do to my brother?’ he called.
Tina was unsure how to respond or what to do. The massive man didn’t seem to notice the biting cold or that his clothes were soaking wet.
‘House up for sale,’ he continued. ‘She die.’
Tina approached him, warily.
‘I pull her out of river, but she not look good. Not breathing. She go to hospital.’ A giant hook of a hand grabbed Tina’s arm and he hauled her close to him. ‘Why you break up with Spartak?’
