CHAPTER SEVEN Audrey watched Tina back out of the drive and then hurried to the lavatories; the cold air was affecting her, too. She selected a cubicle and sat down, leaving the door open. Although the old wooden walls were scrawled with insults, rude words and even ruder drawings, Audrey came from tough enough stock not to be intimidated. When she pulled the chain with its decorative porcelain handle, the rush of water was a comforting sound. She decided to test the showers, which were located around a corner from the lavatory cubicles and washbasins. They were in a large open area that had several shower heads and drains, affording no privacy. She imagined how vulnerable young boys must have felt when using them.
