Chapter 2: Rejected by my mate Eva's POV: The clothes are dried already. I placed the clothes in the respective bags which I need to deliver. Mrs Smith had asked me to deliver her clothes at her new apartment which I am headed to at the moment. I got into a bus headed to New Way Street. She had asked me to deliver her clothes and I can't afford to get late, or else I will not be getting a full payment. I walked into the bus, into the farthest seat in the bus. The seat were mostly occupied, I finally found my way near an old woman. I smiled and greeted her, before settling beside her. I sat beside the window, before making a sigh. The bus began to move, then I took my purse, bringing out my card. "Do you perhaps have some dollar with you, my dear?" I heard the voice of the old woman . I furrowed my brows, before turning my head to see the woman staring at me. Her eyes were pleading, and that made me remember Silvia. She had pleaded to live, just like this woman had pleaded for some dollars. So how could I refuse? "I think I am out out cash at the moment. And I have to get home to my grandchildren." She explained further. "Yes ma'am." I quickly searched my purse, bringing out five dollars. "Here you go, ma'am. I think this will be enough." "Yes it is my dear. Thank you so much, you are so nice." She gently said to me and I could swear the sound of her voice gave me a relief and a strange rest of mind, that everything will be alright. If she isn't old, I would have told a young woman was the one who had just spoken to me right now. "It is alright ma'am." "Where are you heading to, my child?" I was caught off guard by her sudden question. "Uh? I...I am heading to New Way Street." "I guess you are a laundress? Your neat bag looks obvious." Yes, she must have guessed that from my dressing and my bag. "Yes I am." "You are really nice my dear and I must tell you, the man who gets to know and like you will be very lucky. He will be the luckiest man in the world. Trust me." A smile beamed on my face. Is that true? I hope the man who is for me will be a man devoted to his wife. I don't want someone like my father. Intact, I can't pray for any woman having a husband like my father. "Really? Do you think so, ma'am?" "I don't think so; I know so." Suddenly, the bus made a tough screech, giving it a rough turn across the road. Everyone made a gasp in alert. Even I was shocked. I held on to the old woman's hand, Incase of anything goes wrong around here. She needs to get home to her grandchildren, they must be expecting her at the moment. "Why the heck is the driver driving like a drunkard?" "Well, I guess he must be too happy today." The old woman said, giving a giggle. The bus made another turn again, and again, the tyres made a rough screech. I didn't know what happen after that, but all I know is sudden clash of two cars ahead of us. Everyone screamed, including me. Why is this happening now? "Ma'am, ma'am?" I turned around to see the seat beside me empty. Wait, where is she? And again, I heard a crash, and this time, closer to our bus. "Argh!!" Everyone screamed, including myself. And thump! Another sound came hitting the bus. *** Alpha Crescent POV: I walked through the bushes, throwing my legs around, feeling the nice freedom, even though it would be for a while. I had asked my beta for a small time of freedom, ordering him to get the works done all by himself. My eyes soared the trees and small animals around my den. The day was extremely beautiful. If the moon goddess could lessen my work for today and let me soar high above. Well, it's just a wish, it can never happen as an Alpha of the largest pack in the world. ‘For a while? Talk more about a moment.’ "Shut up Moon! At least I am free from crazy duties." I spoke back at him. ‘You will be called back by that pitiful wolf. Stop trying to take a time out of your duty, Crescent. You are an Alpha. You are expected to act like one." "Aren't you tired of talking? You should enjoy a moment of freedom, will you?" ‘I am enjoying nothing!’ Well, I cannot blame him. He is an Alpha Wolf. He is more energetic than I am. He is meant to be working, but I am tiring him instead by walking around. "Well, good for you." I snapped back at him. Still moving around, I heard strange sounds coming from the trees. I looked away, continuing my journey to freedom. Why should I care about a rabbit? Walking around, I heard the sound again, this time louder. I furrowed my brows, wondering who would be wandering around this border. And that doesn't sound like parading wolves, also doesn't sound like rabbits or squirrels either. It is definitely someone moving around the borders. "Moon, do you hear that?" ‘Loud and clear Crescent.’ My wolf stood up in alert. I heard the sound making a change of place. I moved closer to know what it was, and instead, a sharp smell of cinnamon, mixed with wooden mane filled my nostrils. That smell; so good. I saw her, standing behind the tree, staring eye to eye with me. "Mate!" My wolf howled out. I felt my heart miss a beat, as I stared at her pure green eyes. My mate; she is beautiful. My mate at twenty four? Oh my... I could also know from her smell that she is an higher-up wolf. ‘what are you doing standing like a statue, Crescent? Our mate! We found our mate!" Moon howled excitedly. "What is your name?" She questioned me instead. I was shocked, but too happy that I didn't hesitate to tell her my name. "Crescent Moon." I happily replied, having a smile on my face. I reached her hand, but immediately, she took it away. "Crescent Moon??" She frowned. "I, Jasmine Alexander Hamilton daughter of Hamilton Derek...hereby rejects Crescent Moon as my rightful mate," I widened my eyes in shock, as I listened to the words she was saying. What does she mean by that? "Because I don't want to die prematurely. I prefer to live and have another mate to love and care for me. I hereby reject Crescent Moon because if I remain his mate, I would certainly die being his mate." "What are you saying? Why would you die?" I wanted to take her hands, but she backed off, trying to go far away from me and instantly I felt pains in my chest. My wolf growled, even I growled in anxiety, shock; but mostly pains that my heart couldn't take any longer. I felt my eyes getting heavier as the seconds pass by. My visions were getting blurrier, but I couldn't miss the moment she ran off, leaving me in pain which I am very sure she is having too. I growled, feeling a drop on my cheek. I fell into the abyss of darkness at that moment. Was I dead? No! I wasn't dead, but partly dead. Jasmine Alexander Hamilton, why did you do this? Why?!
