Missing Voice.
Spring had awoken from a horrid sleep that morning. It wasn't the every night type of dream, it was a nightmare. One Spring was petrified over. Spring wiped her tear stained cheeks and red eyes to rid her face of the tears that had fallen. Spring sniffled and got up, remembering her dream.
The blood. It leaked from a young girls body onto the cold hardwood flooring. The girls eyes were wide in shock and held a lifeless look in them. Spring stood over the girl, laughing slightly. It was first a giggle. Then a chuckle. Then a psychopathic laugh that rang through the room. But Spring knew it wasn't her. Something was different. The girls voice was deeper and distorted, kind of like a glitch in a sound system. Then, her voice dyed down. It went silent. Spring's eyes looked down to the girl beneath her and tears welled up in her eye sockets.
"Spring!" A distant voice called out."Spring!"
Spring snapped out of the flash back, tears running wildly down her cheeks. Her vision focused on a figure in front of her.
"Mom.." Spring called to the figure, though it sounded more like a wail.
Her mother looked down at her, her hands on Spring's shoulders. Her eyes held concern and worry for the poor 10 year old. Spring sniffed and wiped her tears away once more before smiling.
"I'm fine. Just a nightmare!" Spring reassured.
Her mother sighed and ran a hand through Spring's deep black hair. A smile then took place on her mother's face.
"Alright then. Join us down for breakfast when your down getting changed, alright? Today's your soccer game." Her mother spoke.
Spring's eyes widened in realization and gasped with happiness. "Right!"
She changed into her soccer uniform, which was a navy t-shirt, black shorts, white knee high socks and cleats. Spring ran down stairs and took a seat in a wooden chair at the table. Her father walked in, smiling at his daughter.
"Exciting day, isn't it?" He asked with a chuckle.
Spring nodded quickly as her mother placed down Spring's chocolate chip pancakes and her father's buttered toast. After eating, the three got into the car, a black Chevy, and drove to the soccer field. It was a small open field, with two nets at each end and the bleachers were filled with people already. The school treats these events as if their some sort of championships, which added onto Spring's nerves. Soon, the game had begun. Spring's team was nervous, including Spring. The team soon advanced forwards, going after the ball. Defence was high on alert. So was the goalie, keeping her eye on the ball at all times.
The game lasted an hour. Time was running out for both teams, with Guest in first place with 4 goals and Home with 3. As soon as time ended, Guest had won. Spring's team looked gloom amd the aura seemed to match the gloomy expressions.
Spring smiled and shouted, "it's alright! At least we tried, right?"
Her team smiled at Spring's encouragement. They cheered slightly, smiles on all of her teammates faces. Though, it didn't last long. Kiely, a close friend and teammate of Spring's, had spotted a soccer ball, flying at the speed of light. Kiely was shocked and scared, she was scared for her friends life.
"Spring!" Kiely shouted, earning the attention of her now worried teammates. "Look out!"
Right as that was said, Spring turned around, getting hit by the ball. It hit her throat harshly and a gurgling sound was heard. The teammates cringed slightly and rushed to Spring's side as she fell down. Spring began seeing spots of black as she coughed up blood. The crimson liquid hit the grass as did Spring, soon passing out.
Shouts were heard. Screams followed. Spring's body lied still on the blood splattered ground. Kiely was shouting at her, telling her to hold on. Her parents were shouting her name. The rest of the team was shouting at the other team, cursing here and there.
Spring didn't hear it. She heard nothing. Everything was distant. She laid there, her chest raising up then falling back down with her breaths. Spring was to distant to hear anything. She was silent. She was still.
"I promise to make your life better, my other self." A voice echoed through her head.
That was the last thing she heard before falling into a coma.
