Jian
The Piao military was an impressive force. Rows of men standing perfectly still waited for the order to move. At the front, horses led the way with spearman on their backs.
Foot soldiers stood behind them with archers at the rear. The sun set over their heads. Soon, only stars would guide them.
Jian nodded goodbye to Qara who’d come to wish him well before nudging his horse up beside Commander Yang. “We are ready to march.”
The commander nodded. “We’ll reach Kanyuan in the early hours of the morning.”
“And catch them by surprise.” It was a well-thought-out plan, one Jian took pride in.
“Once this battle is through, soldier, I would very much like you to remain in my service.”
