Daxon and Roxanne
Daxon What was I going to do? There was no way I could back up the blatant lie I had just told. By the end of this month everything I worked for would be gone. I would lose my company to my horrible brother. This wasn’t fair! My phone buzzed in the cupholder of my Tesla. I grabbed it and glanced down at the text on my screen. Can’t wait to meet her! Ugh, what was wrong with me? I glanced up and slammed on the breaks, but I couldn’t slow down fast enough. I heard a scream as my car hit someone and they rolled over the hood.  A thump could be heard as they hit the ground hard.  This was the worst day ever. -- “Daxon, your grandfather is here to see you,” My assistant Rosie stated.  My eyes widened. “Like he’s here, right now?” “Yes, sir. In conference room A, with your brother.” Oh, this could not be good! “Thank you so much Rosie,” “Of course. Um, also Daxon, did you happen to find my earring in your room?” Rosie bit her lip. “If not, I can come over tonight and you can help me look for it.” “We’ll see, Rosie.” I flashed her a smile before leaving my office.  This is why they tell you not to sleep with your assistants. But how could I resist when Rosie had those sparkling green eyes and that long blonde hair and the way her ass looked in those pencil skirts was unbelievable? Honestly, now that I’d had her, all interest was out of the window. I had to stop doing this. I inwardly groaned seeing my brother and grandfather in the conference room. What could this be about?  “Gramps! Didn’t know you’d be in today!” I reached out and shook his hand.  “Really? I thought Gideon told you?” Gideon grinned evilly. “I must have forgotten.” That bastard didn’t forget a damn thing. He wanted to catch me off guard. I couldn’t stand him.  “That memory of yours sure does always screw me over,” I commented, taking a seat.  “Or maybe I told Rosie and she forgot. She does seem to get…distracted around you.” Gideon smirked.  Great, so he knows what happened with me and Rosie. “So what do I owe this pleasure?” I questioned. “I think it’s time Gideon took over this particular company.” I gaped at him. “What?! No, mom and dad left it to me, you said I could have it!” “I also said I wanted the asset company to be a family company,” Gramps stated.  “Am I not a part of the family?” I questioned.  “I always thought you were adopted,” Gideon commented.  “Yes, Daxon, you are a part of the family, but you don’t have any family! This is supposed to be passed down from father to child and if you have no children there’s no one to pass it to. So I have decided to make Gideon the CEO.” “Gideon doesn’t have kids either,” “Yes, but he’s at least married.” Gramps pointed out.  “Eleanor wants to start trying to have kids,” Gideon informed me, smugly. “So, it just makes more sense that I take over.” “No, this is my company!” I exclaimed. “You can’t do this! Gramps this isn’t fair! Hasn’t he taken enough from me?!” “Your personal feelings do not outweigh the importance of this family’s legacy, Daxon. I’m sorry, I have to give the company to Gideon. Unless you plan on getting engaged in the next month.” This was the only thing in the world I wanted to do, and I didn’t want to work for Gideon. He would never take care of this company the way I had. He wasn’t as smart or charming with the clients as I was.  I had to do something.  “I am engaged!” I blurted out.  They both looked at me in shock.  “No way!” Gideon shook his head. “You’re the biggest man w***e I’ve ever met, no way you’re settling down again.” “B-but I am. I’ve met the most amazing woman who I want to spend the rest of my life with. So…I asked her to marry me.” “Well that’s great to hear!” Gramps grinned. “So, what’s her name?” I looked out of the window in panic. My eyes landed on the Roxblum Hotel. “Rox…Roxy….Roxanne. Like the song!” I smiled. “Roxanne. I-I um gonna marry Roxanne.” “Well congratulations, bro. Let’s all have dinner tonight so we can meet her.” Gideon suggested.  “Um…you want to meet her…tonight?”  “I sure would love to meet my future granddaughter,” Gramps smiled.  “Yeah, okay. I can totally do that. Um, actually can we do tomorrow night? She’s um, gotta work late tonight.” I stammered.  “Sounds good,” Gideon buttoned his suit jacket as he stood up, his demonic blue eyes piercing into mine. “Can’t wait to meet my new sister.” “Yeah, I can’t wait either.” -- I thought I would throw up when I got to my office. How the hell was I going to find a woman named Roxanne that would marry me in one day? “Rosie!” I called. “Yes, Daxon?” “I need you to do something for me and I realize how inappropriate this is going to sound-” “No, I can do it. This skirt is tight, but I can still go on my knees,” She said eagerly.  “Oh, no Rosie! God, not here! Um…I need you to look through the women I have had…relations with and see if there’s a Roxanne, please.” “Oh, um of course Daxon.” “And I’m going to be out of the office, so just text me if you find one.” I gently patted her shoulder. “I appreciate you.” “I appreciate you too.” Rosie said longingly.  I sighed and headed to the elevator.  I could really use a drink.   Roxanne I drank way too much last night.  Note to self: no more than eight shots of tequila ever again.  “Rox, are you in there?” My boyfriend, Tyson questioned banging on the door “Yeah, I’m just dying. But I can be ready in five minutes.” “Um, you know what baby, why don’t you just meet me at two? I got some stuff to take care of before we start shooting anyways.” “Okay, I’ll see you then!” I called, before gagging again.  “Rox…your friends are here…again!” I heard the door slam. I spent a few more minutes emptying the contents of my stomach before stumbling out to the living room. Remy and Beatrix Bernard sat on Tyson’s couch, talking animatedly. How did they look so good after last night? Remy’s curly brown hair bounced as he laughed at something Beatrix said. His amber eyes lit up with happiness and content. He had the world’s most adorable smile along with being the world's sweetest guy. And yet he was single. I never understood that at all. His sister Beatrix sat across from him, flipping her dyed green hair out of her face. Her three nose piercings sparkled in the light as she tossed her head back in laughter. Under heavy makeup, her brown eyes were glazed over and red. She’d been smoking.  “How are you two okay?” I groaned, falling on the couch, next to Remy. “Because we only had seven shots,” Beatrix laughed. “What’s up with your boyfriend? He’s extra agro today.” “First day of filming, he gets nervous and stressed.”  “Well how are you feeling about it? I mean this is your first leading role!” Remy grinned.  “I mean it only might be picked up by Vaughn Showcase, it’s not official.” I waved my hand.  I tried to come across as casual, but I was actually excited. If this movie got picked up I would finally be launched into stardom. All of the years of acting classes and waitressing will have paid off. I knew dating a director would work out in the long run. “Um, is Tyson even talented?” Beatrix snorted. “Yes! He’s just…he’s got a very unique way of directing that I think is going to catch on!” I insisted.  “Yeah, sure. I’m only respecting him but he’s letting me do costumes.” “And he’s really going to let me edit?” Remy asked eagerly. “Yes! I know you both hate him, but he’s really coming through for us. I mean we could be big names after this movie.” I smiled. “Everything is finally working out for us.” “So what shall we do with our first million?” Beatrix cackled.  “Buy sharks with lasers attached to their heads!” Remy chuckled. I dropped my head in his lap and sighed.  “I just never want to worry about money ever again.” -- I felt like a complete star the moment I arrived on set. Everyone’s eyes were on me and there were even people whispering. I was so ready for this! “Hi baby!” I kissed Tyson when I saw him. “Oh good, you’re here early. We need to talk.” He said. “Of course, Mr. Director.” I followed him off set. “Rox…I have to break up with you.” Tyson rushed out. “Huh?” “I’m sorry, it’s just. It’s not working right? It’s very serious, very quickly-” “We’ve been together a year and a half,” I pointed out. “It’s just…intense, right? And I love that I do, but we’re so young, Rox. And our careers are really about to take off and I don’t think we should be tied down when that happens.” “But you said we would make it together. That we would make our dreams come true!” “I guess I really thought about it and there’s a lot I want to do that I can’t do if I’m your guy,” Tyson shrugged.  “Like what?” I asked desperately.  “Like be with other people. Look, Rox I…met someone else.” “B-but I thought you loved me. You said I was your muse!” “You don’t inspire me anymore, babe. You’re just not enough for me.” Tyson said quietly.  His eyes were empty and blank as though he had lost any and all feelings for me. How did that happen? We were all over each other last night. He told me I was his star. Maybe he just needed a few days to get his head together. He’d forget about this other girl and when he saw me act, he would realize I was still his muse and that we were meant to be. “Um, okay. I can be professional throughout this process.” I said finally.  “About that Roxanne. See…my new girlfriend is actually going to be taking your role. She’s a really talented actress and to not cast her would be an egregious mistake.” Tyson explained.  “You gave my role to her? Tyson! This was supposed to be my big break too! How could you do this?” “I’m sorry, Rox, I have to make the best decisions for myself and my career. And your friends…they’re fired too.” “What?” “And I’m gonna need you out of my apartment…by tonight.” “Tyson, please don't do this. Where am I going to live? A-and how will I make money?” I whispered.  “That’s for you to figure out, not me.” He shook his head. He took the script from my hand. “I would appreciate it if you didn’t share what you know about the script with anyone else. And this is a closed set so…you gotta go Roxanne.” Tears started spilling out of my eyes as I looked at the man I thought I was going to marry. I thought we would be one of those iconic Hollywood couples. But that was being taken from me in front of my very eyes.  “Roxanne, please don’t make me get security.” Tyson said impatiently.  I slowly turned and walked away. Everyone was still staring at me and whispering.  That didn’t make me feel like a star at all. -- I walked quickly through the city, with no real destination. I was panicking. No job, no boyfriend, no future. I might as well turn my ass around and go back home.  My phone started buzzing and I saw it was Beatrix. “So what is this I’m hearing about getting fired?” She demanded before I could speak. “He dumped me Bea!” I sobbed. “A-and he was cheating on me! He gave my role to another girl and he’s kicking me out. I have nothing!” “Oh, sweetie. It’s okay, you don’t need him!” “Yes I do! I need a job and a place to live! He was giving me those!” My tears were blurring my eyes.  I glanced back and forth quickly before crossing the street.  “Roxanne, you are talented and you don’t need that mediocre man! You will make it!” “Yeah how will I do th-ah!” A car was coming towards me and it didn’t look like it had any intention of stopping.
