It felt strange to be living with Selene again.
We didn’t talk nearly as much as she and Daxon did, but I was slightly convinced she was trying to change. She actually went to meetings and had been kind of nice.
“You’ve got a good husband, you know?” Selene asked me.
“I do know that. Daxon is everything I never thought I'd have.”
“So maybe everything that happened in Taos wasn’t so bad?”
“How can you say that?” I asked. “Just because your life was barely affected by it doesn’t mean it wasn't so bad.”
“My life was affected, Roxanne. I mean what happened with Lazlo hurt us all.”
“But did it change your life? Does it haunt you? Did you have to almost block it out of your mind to function? Do you actually blame yourself?”
