Chapter 8: Lauren“Lauren? There’s a guy in the waiting room who’s been asking to speak with you. He’s been in there for about an hour while you were running that code on the Dennison baby. An older guy in a suit. He wouldn’t say what it was about but he looks like some sort of official. Is the Joint Commission inspection due already?”
Lauren looked up from her charting. Crap. Her shift was nearly over and she had plans to meet Silke for dinner. “I don’t think he could be with the Joint Commission. We passed with flying colors not more than a month ago. Probably a grandpa who either wants to thank me for caring for his grandbaby…” She frowned as she tried to remember any recent negative outcomes. “Or serve me papers to appear in court for a lawsuit. Maybe I should sneak out.”
