Chapter one
Prologue:
"A cursed Lycan King. A monster. And then there's you, my little cherry, who has gained my attention. I know you have read many stories of such, and you'll think of a happy ending. However, this isn't one. I was without a heart until I touched yours, and something inside me was struck."
"Whatever it is you did changed me. I've never wanted anyone as bad as I want you. I shall have you. My Firebird. You have tainted me, and I shall do the same back."
"Yes, good girl. Forget all the fantasies. I'll come for you. I'll take you to my castle. I'll own you."
"My little cherry, don't fret. It will all happen with time. Until then..."
The letter reads.
"Sister. Sister." Says a tiny feminine voice, the owner rushing into the study room with eagerness. "I heard you received a letter from a stranger. What is it about? Tell me!"
Silence lingers. After reading such a text, it is obvious what is to come in the future. Should one wait? After all, where can his little cherry run away to?
In time, he shall come.
There is no escape.
Alpha Grey Xavlor.
Right before I walked into the red room in the basement, I could hear their whimpering. Oh, and the wrench of their fear doesn't pass by the sense of my monster.
The two fools I had hired. Their failure rings an idea to me, though. A close victory: my little cherry is about to be mine.
"The soft tools are ready for your use, Alpha Grey." My commander, Rogue, says, his voice stern. I can sense his anger towards the two men hung in the air, upside down. They are chained to the ceiling with no clothes on. The only thing covering their skin is their own dried blood.
When they realise my entrance, they shuffle, their whimpering increasing. "Obviously, you didn't lecture them like I thought. They've still got some strength in them." I dart my eyes to Rogue, my voice strained between my monster and me, and he bows his head.
"Forgive me, sire. I'll fix that." He walks forward to punish the men, but I raise my hands and he halts.
"Pass me the tablet." I tell him, and he hurries to execute my demand. My men know never to question me. Once I leave an order, it is to be executed immediately, and that's why these two fools are about to see the worst of me.
Turning on the tablet, I read. "Alora Sterling, daughter of Alpha Aaron of the BlueMoon Pack, is getting mated to the Lycan King of the West, Alpha Maverick."
Again, seeing as the men buckle annoys me. I want all their strength drained alongside their blood right before their heads are cut off. The one with the blonde hair hurries to plea. "I swear, Alpha Grey, we did everything you asked. It was secretive information. Alpha Aaron didn't let anyone know, not even us his closest guards. I swear to you."
"Yes, we would never have failed you. We swear." The one with the brown hair joins in.
"What was your job?" I ask and they whimper again. My eyes flashed red before I appeared in front of the both of them and hit them in the nose, breaking it. Their cries turn muffled.
Better. "What was your job?"
"To be your spy, watch over the princess and give you any details on her."
"So, why am I finding out that my little cherry is getting married and not just that, but to my greatest enemy?" My eyes shift from the blonde one to the brown-haired. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't end your pathetic lives right now."
"I know something, Alpha Grey." With a nod from me, the brown-haired one continues. "I may have heard something about where the wedding will be taking place. It'll be at the BlueMoon pack."
"And how does that information save your life?"
"Give me one more chance. I can destroy the wedding and get you the princess. That's the first win. And the second one? A disgrace to the Alpha Maverick for losing his bride. Two wins, your highness." He pauses, and I squint my eyes.
Apart from wanting my little cherry, I've always wanted to place Maverick in his place. A ghost of a smile crawls up my face right before my nails sharpen into claws, and I pluck out both eyes of the blonde-haired one, then stuff it into his mouth just as he screamed, and then I tear off his lower jaw from the rest of his face.
The view is horrific, but his wolf is struggling to keep him alive, and I look away from him, leaving him to drown in the agony. Eventually, he'll die from heavy loss of blood.
"Continue." Is the next thing I say to the brown-haired one, whose eyes popped out. He couldn't believe the nasty death of his friend, assumably.
"I—I... I also know that the mating ceremony will take place a week from now. That's all I know, Sire. Please. Please don't kill me. Please, I don't... I don't..." He's hyperventilating.
I cup his face with my bloodied hands. "Calm the f**k down if you don't want to end up like your friend, Wolf. I have a question. Have you ever fallen in love?"
He nods his head, and my lips tug into a devilish smile. "It's such a bewildering feeling, isn't it? Bewitching and captivating, in fact. I'm sure you understand me. A Cursed King like myself. I've never craved for anyone the way I crave for her. My little cherry. She was so innocent when I first laid my eyes on her. If only she knew the torment I have caused in this world, she wouldn't have offered to give me a drink that day. Something she did made my black heart beat. Without an invitation, she waltzed in, and oh, yes, I'm petty." I chuckle. "I will walk into her life without invitation too. Perhaps her light can be dimmed. My Firebird." I close my eyes as I savour her beauty, remembering the innocent face she had the last time I saw her. "Her scent. Her love for nature. The peace she reckons is something opposite to what my existence stands for."
"Yes, Sire. The feeling of love can make even the most cold-hearted man become warm."
"Speaking of being warm, what flowers do you think I should send through you to Alora if I am to release you?" When I asked, the man's eyes lit up, a flicker of hope in there.
"Er, Daphne. She appreciates it. I've seen it before." He tells me, and I nod my head.
"Good."
"Wait, I'm correct?" He cracks up, laughing manically like he had peed on his pants before, scared he'd failed the test. "Of course, I'm correct. Thank you. Oh, goodness. Thank you..."
I turn my back towards him, taking a step forward, and say, "You paid a little attention, so a swift death." In the following second, I chop off his head with my claws. His blood spurted out to stain my clothes.
Fuck. I didn't want to get dirty today, apparently. "My Firebird isn't a common girl. If you had paid an undivided attention, you'd know just like her favourite colour, lavender is her favourite flower. It's also the scent of the perfume she wears." I state to myself as I walk towards the exit door.
"Get the room cleaned up, Rogue."
"Yes, Sire."
I raise my index finger as an idea pops in. "And get the high councils for an urgent meeting. Also, prepare me a flight to San Francisco. I have a wedding to destroy and a war to start with the Lycans of the Western division." However, first, I shall like to get myself cleaned up. I'm pretty sure my Firebird won't like to see me bloodied like this.
As I make my way to my chamber, I check the picture attached to the news on the screen of the tablet and smile at her photo. After four years that she's tainted my black heart with her light, I'll finally have her with me. I know she won't come with me easily, and that's what will make this story fun. A cursed Lycan King and his resilient Firebird. I can feel the tingling excitement for her soon-to-be presence in my territory, and my balls can't wait.
