Alora
A week later.
The sound of the bells in the distance fills my heart with terrifying thoughts. There's a sense of hurriedness in the air, the maids hastening with making the mating ceremony a success.
I raise up my gaze at the mirror to see a young woman with silver cerulean eyes staring back at me, a deep frown laced to her forehead as her eyes roll down to her neck where a necklace gifted by the Lycan King of the West hangs. Her warm beige skin glows at the rays of light from the sunset, penetrating through the windows.
"You are ready, Miss." Amelia tells me, tapping me on the arms to bring me back to earth. I've been zoning out for quite some time, my mind split into different realities that are about to come true.
How could my life stream this bad, becoming Alpha Maverick's mate, the Luna of the West? I wish something drastic enough to ruin the wedding could happen. I've thought of many scenarios that could surface, but fate has a way of f*****g you without a break.
"Thank you," I pause as Elena, my younger sister, runs into the room. Taking in her expression brings a smile to my face. At least someone's excited to have her sister married off, not because of the need to strengthen the family but because they thought it would make my life better.
Unfortunately, that won't be the case, but I can't let her know, so I fake a blush and bend down to hug her as she comes closer.
"Excuse me, please. Everyone." I say, and every maid in the room leaves.
Elena is giggling, and that calls back my attention. "Oh-mi-gosh, you look so beautiful. I feel so bad that none of you alerted me early. I'd have gotten the best dress in town, well, at least one close to yours since you're supposed to look the most glamorous."
That makes us two. I wasn't alerted either.
My lips are as open as a jar top, and I can't help but just stare at her. A brief moment, and I recover myself. "I think you should lessen the fantasy books you read. Not everything ends happily."
She wanted to say more when the door opened. Amelia's figure comes into my view, slightly opening the door to let out the information. "It's time to walk down the aisle." She whispers, and I nod at her.
When she excuses us again, I pull Elena closer to me. "There's something I need to tell you, Elena. I need you to be strong," I shake my head. No, I need a better speech. "I need you to be better than me. Let Father know that you are capable of leading this pack someday and that it's your birthright. When you are of age and your wolf is with you, don't let anyone stop you. Do you understand?" Something tells me she doesn't understand, but I really hope she doesn't attain my kind of experience to learn such vitality.
I stand up and smile again, this time tilting my head to the side. "Come on. Your sister is about to be the bride you've always imagined her to be."
A lie. However, I can't let Elena see me weak, nor can I let the entire pack. I'm a loner who's got no other choice than to adhere to whatever I'm told. That's my reality.
I take one last look at the mirror, and I realise how breathtaking I actually look. The white gown is perfect, streaming down my body, a nylon veil drawn over my head to hinder my face from the audience. My dark blonde hair is braided into a box, held by many pins.
Outside the dressing room, I see Father, who gives me his hand to hold. We start to make our way towards the mating ground, and with each step, my heart leaps more. My breathing begins to quicken, sweat forming beads on my skin, but I keep going. Many thoughts swim past my head, but none of them are of help. There's no escaping this fate.
I'm doomed for life. I'll live with an arrogant Lycan King who didn't save my species when the Great War occurred. The Lycans see us, werewolves, as nothing, so I can only imagine the fate that'd be bestowed on someone like me without a wolf.
Before I know it, my mind sways off from reality, a continuous blacking out in my head; the Elder's voice who's between Alpha Maverick and me calls me back to earth. "Alora, do you accept Alpha Maverick as your leader, Alpha, and mate for the rest of your life?"
My eyes flare. A big lump forms in my throat. My entire body freezes at the question thrown at me. I'm taking time, and I must answer yes. I know I must do that. My lips part, and just when I'm about to give an answer, the entrance door to the mating ground blasts open.
One of Alpha Maverick's guards, a Lycan with distinct blue hair, alarms with a frightening approach. "The Cursed King." He's breathless. "We are under attack. The Cursed King is here!"
At first there was no reaction until an explosion sounded in the distance, leaving the walls to quake. Within a second, the entire space turns into chaos.
"Get my..." Alpha Maverick loses his words at the sound of someone screaming in pain.
My eyes shoot there as well, catching the Lycan guard with the blue hair in the air. His blood streams from his back down someone's arms. His killer.
When his killer dropped him, I gasped, my body jolting such that I landed on the ground. It's him. I remember his face, and now that I see him kill someone, I really understand why he's known as the Cursed King. The handsome face is only a shield from the monster he is beneath.
"Take her away from here." Says Alpha Maverick, and I see a guard coming to take me from the scene but I shake my head when I see how ruined everything has suddenly become. I can't even find my family again.
"No, I need to see my family!" I plead with Alpha Maverick, calling his attention back to me, but instead, he replies darkly.
"You're mine now. Your family will find their own shelter." I haven't recovered from the cruelty of his tone when I'm pulled away from the spot while I fight helplessly.
No! No!
Alpha Grey Xavlor.
Nothing better has tickled my monster into exhilaration except the blood of a motherfucker screaming to the top of their lungs. My eyes are closed as I inhale the heavy fog in the air.
My monster is excited. The big bad wolf wants some wanker's blood. The feeling of knowing that my little cherry is so close is one, but the situation—night sky, mindless mutts, and full moon—adds to the flavour.
It's as though tonight was made for only my savouring. From my peripheral vision, I listen to Rogue. "My king, everything is in order, and neither the wolves nor the Lycans are aware of our approach. Also, the council is here to aid in the ambush."
Now this makes my balls tingle even more.
I spread my arms wide as I let the power of the moon sink into me. My nails extend into claws, my eyes tainted with the crimson colour of blood. The beast inside me comes to the surface as I bare my fangs out. My voice thickens, revealing my thirst for blood. "Then, launch the fireworks. Let there be light!"
The explosive projects in the air, heading for the BlueMoon pack, and a chuckle creeps out of me right before I run down the hill.
"Right. Let's get you home, little cherry." As I make my way down, running inhumanly, the agitation only grows further.
My first kill is a guard who wasn't paying enough attention. With my claw, I pull him by the neck like a metal hook. Facing me, his eyes growing wide, I pull out his heart and then hurl it so hard at the other guard that his speed got disrupted.
With the second guard's stamina unstable, I cut off his stance and pounce on him till his soul leaves his flesh.
"My king, we've got this." Rogue tells me through the mind link, and I make my way to the mating ground. As I get closer, my little cherry's scent grows potent.
My dramatic entrance leaves her stunned, and I love it. I love the way she couldn't hold herself, her legs vibrating so much that they turned into jellies, and the way she couldn't take her eyes off of me.
"Maverick," without opening my lips, I utilise my Alpha's aura to pour my thoughts into his head.
He returns the favour, barging into my mind as well. "As if being cursed isn't enough, you dare ruin my wedding."
I roll my eyes. "Okay, I'll let you know a fact. The little cherry belongs to me." There's a brief shock on his face when he recognises who I'm referring to.
"You really think you can..."
I cut him off, ending the discussion. "All right, enough talking. I need some actions." I haven't finished saying before I race towards him just after I take one last look at my Firebird as she gets dragged away.
Oh, no one should dare drag her that way except I give the order. For her, I'll turn this place a bloodbath.
