Chapter 8: Bloody Truth

"Ainsley!"

I turned to Elinora when she called me. "Why?"

I noticed that she is forcing the guests out, who were now dumbfounded and crying. “We have to get out of here”, she said.

I looked back at the room where the woman was covered in blood earlier but all I saw there were two corpses. Where is she?

I looked back at Elinora but she is now trying to pull the guests outside of the house. "What? Why?", I asked Elinora confused.

I heard another devilish laugh coming from another room. I also heard a deafening shout there. Oh my god, is there another one dead?

"Just! Just do it!", she commanded me so I could do nothing but to follow her.

I left the house and Elinora quickly closed the door. I heard knocks and shouts from the house but later it disappeared. T-there is still someone inside. I could help them but I am too late.

"Azrael", Elinora whispered softly when she saw Azrael approaching the house.

His eyes are still black. His aura is like Lucifer's. Why is he becoming like this? This isn't the Azrael I knew "I need to do my job", he just told us and entered the house.

I didn’t understand anything that was going on. I sat down next to Elinora who was now deep in thought. Maybe she could help me understand what was going on.

"What's going on?", I asked her in astonishment. "Why do we have to go out? There are still people left there in the rooms. We can still save them but why did we go out?"

I then remembered the screams coming from the rooms. Those screams of pain and fear. It just doesn't get out of my head.

She sighed and shook her head. “If we did’t go out, we may be the one who is now dead”, she replied.

I was stunned. D-died? "Y-you mean, a m-m*********r happened again?"

She did not answer me but only she stared the door. She may be felt sorry for them but she needs to do what she had to do.

Soon the ambulance and police arrived, including Jayden. He was surprised to see us but he did not ask first. He already knew that something strange had happened here. It is obvious by how those people act and the mess in the house.

They took the bodies of the dead. If my count was right, they found about twelve corpses. But still, they didn't find Azrael. He may be used his invisibility ability again.

They asked us what happened but Elinora and I just answered we didn't know and we just passed by.

The guests were taken to the psychiatrist to be examined. They maybe in trauma for what had happened. Those things can't be forgotten in just a few days. Those things and scenarios they saw may still linger in their minds for much longer. Meanwhile, Elinora and I stayed in front of the house waiting for Azrael to go out. What is he even doing there that took him so long?

Jayden approached us. "Where's Azrael?", he asked us. He did not go with his companions and just stayed here. At first they were surprised but Jayden told them he will further investigate what happened.

“Still inside, doing his job”, I replied.

Elinora explained what had happened to Jayden while I called Bliant to come here.

I don't know if it was right to call Bliant for help but I also could not do anything because they ordered me to do so. In fact, Bliant is more knowledgeable than me so he is much more important in this cases.

The night had come and Bliant arrived as well. Azrael also came out with only wound and bruises.

"What happened?", I asked him worriedly while helping him get walk out of the house.

"That was a nasty spirit, I'm really being tortured to hell. But that was a nice fight", he just answered and go directly to Bliant to be healed.

"Did you two fought?", Jayden asked him.

"Yeah. That one is always hiding. Maybe she's more than a hundred years of age."

"Who won?", Bliant asked secondly. Azrael was silent for a moment but then he just smirked.

"No one. She only bruised me because maybe she is irritated at me. But then she hid again. Obviously, she is a coward."

We went to my house to rest. I offered them some coffee and dinner as well but Elinora insisted that she will be the cook which I was hesitant at first but she still insisted until I just sat down.

We tackled about what happened earlier and the spirit of the bloody woman.

Maybe she knows the house so it's easy for her to hide. She also may have killed so many people already so she is now far stronger than some regular evil spirits.

But then, on the corpses I saw, none of them were full pf blood. It was just like they are sleeping peacefully yet not breathing. None of them appeared to have been murder victims. Is their heart really that weak to die from a heart attack?

"Yes, they died from shock but it's not that simple", Azrael suddenly told us.

It is not that simple? How? All our ears are at Azrael's attention, waiting for his second statement.

Elinora serve our dinner in the coffee table in front of us. Azrael took a spoonful of food before continuing.

"There is a thing called fear, right? They all saw what they feared most and that fear caused them to die. In short, they are scared to death."

"Is it that possible?", I asked incredulously. I never heard someone die because of excessive fear.

"Yes. Some spirits actually gained that ability after years. And also, the more people they kill, the more power they get."

I shivered in fear and clung to Elinora. I don’t like this job anymore, it’s too scary.

"So, how can we kill her?", Jayden asked while eating.

They still have the eager to eat while talking about the dead? God, they are so weird.

"Use her ability to her. If we knew what her fear was and made her see it then maybe it may weaken her strength then after that, let us kill her."

Jayden agreed with Azrael's answer. "That's right. But we should do some research about this house and who she really is. Maybe some records about it are still in the city hall or police station."

"But Azrael said, that woman is hundreds of years old. It's impossible that they still have her records", I replied.

They stopped at what I said and deeply thought of another way.

Azrael looked at me and smiled. Others did the same. I was stopped. "Wait, what's with that smile? What are you thinking?" I felt something weird about their eyes.

"Do you remember that you have an ability right?", Azrael replied smiling teasingly. Oh god! How do they remember that?

"No, no, no, no. That's scary, I don't want to see those things again", I replied nervously.

"Well you have no choice. I got something in the basement of the house earlier. Maybe it will help."

Azrael released an old photo. That was a picture of the woman earlier and she still has some companions. Maybe it is her family?

I dodged and walked away from Azrael so I couldn’t touch the photo.

"I don't want to, please", I said pityingly while hiding behind Elinora.

"You have no choice. This is the only way", Azrael said.

"Let him go if she doesn't want to", I looked at Jayden who spoke. He is truly my friend.

I approached him to thank him and can hide on him but he took out the photo and placed it in my hands.

My head was immediately hurt and before I knew, I was already at a place I don't know where.
