Chapter 9: What's The Best For Summer?

We all went out of the house and immediately met Bliant who's worriedly sitting at the bench.

Azrael instantly approached him and Bliant treated him while going back to my house.

When we entered, Elinora and Madison immediately prepared the food they cooked before which we ate.

"When you burn that picture and then Maria started to become ashes, where did her spirit go after that? Hell or Purgatory?", I asked Azrael.

"She will go directly to Hell. She's an evil spirit after all", he answered me and ate some food.

I just nodded. So all evil spirits after disappearing here in Earth all went to Hell directly. Unfortunately, they were not given a second chance but so, they did that to themselves. I just hope they are now repenting.

"By the way Ainsley, why did you say earlier that you were not at fault?", Jayden asked me. I look at him after finishing my plate.

"Don't tell me you talked to Maria? How did you hear her without us knowing? And you saw her too", Elinora asked me while eating.

"As far as I know we couldn't hear the evil spirits' voice because of the technique they use and the dark energy they have", Mason said.

They all looked at me as if waiting for my answer.

I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know. Maybe because I am under her ability?", I answered them.

Mason and Jayden thought deeply about experiencing Maria’s ability. "It doesn't seem though. But maybe it was because of it?."

Azrael's eyes narrowed as he looked at me. Doesn’t he believe what I said? I think what I said is true right? I am under her ability?

But on the second thought, I didn't see my fear and I also didn't feel like I was just sleeping unlike Mason and Jayden.

Days had passed and we haven't had any serious cases. Some are just minors like evil spirits in the roads or spirits who are lost.

The squad are also so welcoming and I am thankful to them for looking out to me whenever we have a case.

My ability is also helpful to them especially in cases that need past connections or sometimes looking out if something bad may have happened if we have a single mistake.

The station is also back to normal and my job was also still in the office, checking the documents and files. Still the same boring workloads.

"Ainsley, want some lunch?", Jayden asked while holding a plastic of foods that maybe he had ordered.

I nodded and cleared my table to put the food there.

"Oh by the way, Mason called me. He said he found a case. It seems ordinary at first but when he investigated farther, he notices some unnatural things", he explained to me while we were eating.

Maybe this is also one of the things I’m used to with them. I’m used to eating while talking about things like death, blood or murders. At first I had a hard time especially when their stories were too detailed but eventually I just got used to it.

"What did he notice?", I asked.

"He seems to notice some mermaid appearances", he answered.

I was shocked. "Mermaid? Is mermaid really real? Seriously?", I asked incredulously.

"I was shocked also when I heard him telling me about it but it seems like all things are possible now." I agreed with what he said.

Because of our job, all things are now possible. I won't be surprised if next time I will see some vampires. Edward? Or modern day Dracula?

We finished our meals and headed straight to the beach where Mason told us to meet.

Fortunately, my working hours are over, and so is Jayden.

After going there, I immediately saw them carrying life guards and inflatable donut rings. I laughed softly. I’m sure Azrael started it.

"What are you carrying?", I asked them when I approached.

"Isn't it obvious? Since this summer started, we plan to go swimming", Azrael replied to me.

"Eh? How about the case?", I asked.

"Let that one go. We'll remember that later. I have only been able to go to the beach after 2 years. Look at them, don't you all want to go swimming?", Azrael encouraged the others.

They all nodded but I saw Elinora prayed before answering. I chuckled a little. Maybe she was scared of what Mason said about the mermaid. After all, according to some sources, some mermaids are demons which are divided by a good and evil kinds.

I just let them do what they want. Since I was not carrying any replacement clothes I didn't joined them.

I sat on the sand and saw Azrael still playing with the children. Is he even serious? It wasn't shocking to me now but maybe if I was still on my old self, I will think that the Angel of Death is so childish.

"Hey Ainsley! I heard that!", He shouted at me in the distance.

I immediately rolled my eyes because he was reading my mind again.

I got up and started walking when I reached the part of the beach where boats are located.

Astonished, I looked around because there were almost no people here. Only stranded boats are here.

There are a few people but those are so few that I can count them by my fingers They also do not sail and are just busy cleaning their boat.

I approached a fisherman to ask. "Sir? Can I ask why aren't you fishing?", I asked. He turned to me and nodded.

"Haven't you heard the latest news? A few days ago, most fishermen have disappeared one after another. I know almost all of them so I know they will never disappear for no reason", he said.

Is this the case Mason is telling us? Missing fishermen?

"Disappeared? Did you see them again? Have you found them?", I asked.

The old man nodded. "A day later, we just saw their boats floating and their bloody bodies were inside and the only thing missing was their internal organs."

What the hell? "I-internal organs?", I asked in shock and he nodded.

Oh god! This situation is not really normal.

If those were just normal sea animals, like sharks or whatever, they wouldn't come back because they could have had eaten their whole bodies. But their bodies came back but only their internal organs disappeared.

I looked straight to sea when I noticed a boat that was just floating.

"Sir, did anyone we to sea again yesterday?", I asked him.

Surprised, he looked at me but I just pointed to the boat that was just floating.

He quickly called his companions and they all worked together to bring the boat to land.

I approached them but I was stepped back because of what I saw.

It was almost impossible to recognize the man because his whole body was covered in blood. I don't want to define it further because it was surely so disgusting.

I immediately averted my eyes and returned to where my colleagues were.

They all saw me vomiting at a nearby trashcan. They all change their clothes first at the rest room before astonished approached me.

Azrael laughed at me and gave me a water bottle. I'm sure this man read my mind again.

"Are you pregnant?", Elinora first asked me so I threw up the water I was drinking. Fortunately no one was there.

"No! Of course not!", I answered immediately. I look at Azrael and he already knows what he needed to do.

"She saw the corpse of a victim. That's why she's like that", Azrael replied to them.

They didn't wonder why Azrael knew about it because I knew they knew Azrael's favorite hobby was reading my mind.

"Where did you see it?", Madison asked me.

"Over there in the part of the beach where boats are located. I'm telling you, if you're thinking of looking at that body too, don't plan it. You will surely regret it", I warned them and vomited again.

But they act like they heard nothing and quickly went to the location of the corpse.

I could do nothing but follow them. I saw Elinora almost vomited after looking at it but managed not to. Bliant also covered his eyes.

The fishermen helped nurses to move the corpse to the ambulance. Azrael also helped them.

"That's so disgusting", Elinora mumbled.

I agreed at her. It is really so disgusting. Maybe it was even far more than disgusting. Those bodies can't be even identified by just one plain sight.

We all agreed to investigate separately to further have more informations.

I started asking questions to the people I met if there’s any witness about what happened until I collided with someone.

"Are you the woman with the eyes of death?"
