Chapter 5

Alpha Mason's p.o.v Find mate. A disgusted growl left my lips as I paced impatiently around the throne room. Bright and shining colors oozed from the paintings, the drapes hanging from the unnaturally high ceilings, and of course, the long carpet that stretched from the door to the jewel encrusted throne. The Western pack is obviously obsessed with the light pastel. Nothing about this room screamed regal. Flowers adorned every other pedestal where a bust was not present. The only thing that was dark or fitting for a throne room was the ash color, the official colors of the western pack. At least the large shield placed above the wall of the throne seemed somewhat fitting of royalty. It was a symbol of the moon goddess sitting on the moon with a crown on her head and a staff in her hand. “Mason, would you sit down? You have been on edge since we got here. Is there a problem? Jasper questioned. He, of course, did not understand the situation I was dealing with. My imbecile of a wolf was currently urging me to stalk all over the castle to look for that odd—eyed woman. Or the fact that I am loathing taking on another responsibility, a wife. A whole person I will have to 'give my devotion' to. I already run behind my father as if he is a hatchling, now I have to run after a woman who is of no importance to me? Not to mention the painstaking task of being around her constantly and impregnating her. Children were something I knew I had to have, but the task of having to be intimate with a woman I did not care for did not appeal to me in the slightest. “Here, have a…some blueberries.” A smell that was in no way delectable reached my nose. It smelled sweet and nothing I wanted near me. I glanced at the assorted colorful platters of food that they had 'given' us while we're impatiently waiting. All sweets and vegetables. No meat. What is wrong with these people? How did they ever expect not to be weak when meat and vigorous training make you strong? “I rather eat the guard,” I snapped, realizing that the guard in fact heard my outburst. The man gripped his scepter tight, his fear rolling from him in waves. Jasper did nothing but laugh at my comment and continue to stuff his face with the unnecessarily sweet 'foods.' As soon as I was ready to question down the guard about the location of the western Alpha and his wife, sounds of some footsteps made me pause my question. Looking forward to the throne room door, I located a man coming towards the throne, sitting alongside a woman. Perhaps his wife, the Luna. “Gentlemen!” The man greeted. The man smiled widely, a smile that grabbed me by the neck and sunk its polite teeth into my skin. It was a smile that could warm a heart of stone or get him eaten. “You are welcome. I am Alpha, Kelly. I beg for forgiveness for my tardiness.” the man spoke as one of the guards rushed over to him with a well crafted wooden staff. Is he sick? Why can't he walk properly? Alpha Kelly immediately began to walk with it, drawing closer to us. The intense limp the king had was yet another reason why I disliked him and this entire arrangement. A smart king would have greeted us on his throne not walking, showing an obvious weakness. Did this man forget who I am? "If you present your daughter now, all is forgiven,” I smiled falsely, hoping that would urge the man to show me his offspring, so I can be on my way. The man burst into boisterous laughter, as he shook my hand. “I see you have your father's humor, Alpha Mason. You have grown into a fine young man. I do hope you will treat my only daughter respectfully.” Cordially yes. She will be my wife and I will be bound to her through a sacred ceremony, and as my wife I will harbor respect for her, but that is it regarding feelings for my wife. Another false grin was placed onto my features. “Of course I will, it would be nice to see your daughter now,” I said bluntly while looking around the throne room. Just the same two terrified guards were here. Maybe if I threatened to eat a guard, that would motivate the Alpha to hurry this pointless meeting. Alpha Kelly cleared his throat before chuckling. “Eager are we, Alpha Kelly?” He questioned while smiling. I didn't give him a reply as I gave him a sternly look. “Very well then, Luna Isla, bring in our daughter.” He instructed the woman beside him. The woman, Luna Isla stared at me for a while before leaving the throne room. After a few minutes, the door suddenly opened. A single woman walked through it. She wore a tight red dress, that accentuated her womanly curves. Her white hair that resembled her mother's was combed back and jeweled pins sparkled in her hair. Her eyes were a bright blue like color. She was adequate. Her eyes strayed to us before a look of pure fear crossed her features. I could see the physical shudder that washed over her body before the emotions she wore were suddenly wiped away. My skin immediately began to tighten, my wolf beginning to feel restless as my eyes took in who we had been thinking about since we entered this room. Yes. Her. Want. Mate. My wolf began to complain as I growled at this guilty looking princess. She took one glance at me before she looked away. Those large doe eyes knew who I was, and I was surely going to get to know just who this woman was. “So here she is, Alpha Mason. My one and only daughter, Princess Ayla of the western pack.” Alpha Kelly proudly introduced before turning towards her direction. “Ayla, meet Alpha Mason, leader of the Northern pack and your husband to be.”
