She saw her friend walking down the stairs, so Candice rushed as fast as she could to catch up with her.
“Mia!”
Candice called.
She pushed past a few people and almost ran over one of her classmates.
“Damn. Sorry, Jess!”
Her classmate smiled, but Candice apologized quickly and continued running.
“Mia! Hey, Mia!”
And her friend continued walking, without turning around.
It was so weird, it was as if Mia was pretending she couldn’t hear her. Which meant she was most likely upset about the way Candice had left her best friend’s engagement party.
