Eadan was watching his phone ring.
He pressed the red button, but continued staring at the screen even after it went dark.
A few seconds later it rang again.
He pressed the button this time too and put the phone back in his pocket.
Eadan’s chair fell back on its four legs, as he’d been slumping in it the way he always did, and the chair fell with a thud on the wooden floor as Eadan got up.
“Can I go out?”
