Three families [The Oldfields] There are so many great drinks, especially around Christmastime: sherry, brandy, and whisky of course, but how can you not start the morning with Buck’s Fizz? Plus you need Advocaat for Snowballs (it’s great, also, on its own), and as long as you’re on the cocktails, Brandy Alexanders go down a treat, as do White Russians. It’s wine over dinner, and port after, and that’s not even getting into all the aperitifs and wee drams you might have throughout the day. And I don’t just mean Christmas Day; we’re all on our holidays anyway, and doesn’t that whole period just seem to stretch out? A gin & tonic’s always lovely, especially when you garnish it with cranberries instead of lime. You could also try adding a shot of vermouth to give it character. Mum’s drinks
