Davina
I am the girl whose mother slept with every Beta, Gamma's, and some Alphas just to climb her way up the ladder, only to be tossed aside and crash to the bottom of the Silver Moon Pack, leaving me to clean up her mess for decades.
The shame.
Constant trolling from the elites makes me want to give up, but I have to keep going.
On my eighteenth birthday, I made a mess of myself.
No wolf.
No mate.
Nothing.
"Maybe the moon goddess hates me," I thought.
As the lowest ranking Omega of the Silver Moon Pack, my destiny is to serve one of the sons of Alpha Demetri.
The day I entered the palace, disaster struck.
Mother fell right before Alpha Demetri.
Dead.
That's what the doctor said to me that day.
Ever since then, I have been called ‘cursed’.
I have no father.
No mother.
Not even a relative.
"Davina."
"Davina… Davina… Davina Magnus."
I jolt out of my own thought. My world is confined within the four walls of his villa. I'm the cursed girl who does his laundry, makes his meals. I do literally everything for him. But somehow, he doesn't notice me.
When he lashes out, I try to keep the peace on my knees.
I am always on my knees.
Ethan has never liked the rich who try to climb up the ladder because of their connections.
He chose to keep me because I am poor.
"You are unlike your b***h of a mother," he whispered in my ears the night he acknowledged my presence in his villa. "From now on, you are mine. You will take good care of me while I promise to give you the life you never had. Do you understand?"
I know I looked desperate that night, his words ignited a spark inside of me. "Yes, I understand. Thank you for choosing me."
However, everything changed when our mate bond clicked.
Me!
A worthless orphaned Omega whose mother constantly humiliated her by selling her body to the highest bidder just so she could sit at the table of the elites.
I wasn't even able to complete college because the pack refused to cover my education even though I got a scholarship on my own merits.
He looked me straight in the eyes that night, "Don't ever tell a soul we are mates. You are mine. I will make it public when the time is right."
Since then, he looks me in the eyes, he can't stand me being away from me.
Every night he would steal wet kisses and struck his c**k hard inside my Honeypot.
But no one knows we are mates.
He is ashamed of me out there.
But deep down in my fragile heart, I love him with everything in me.
A love untold, desperate for his touch I can never reveal. At least not yet. I loved him despite everything he did to me. With a broken heart, I always gather the pieces and hand them back to the man my heart craves for.
Yet I remain his dirty secret.
"What are you doing?" His rough voice makes me jolt, accidentally pouring the water on the floor.
I can see my reflection, neatly dressed in my servant uniform with my rough white hair swinging around my shoulders.
"s**t, I am so sorry," I pleaded. "I will dry this up. I was only trying to clean up your bedroom before your parents arrived. Breakfast is ready, in case you are hungry."
I rubbed the back of my head, it aches so much from last night.
Ethan was rough with me, just like always.
He runs his fingers through his black curly hair and sits up with the sheets wrapped around his waist. I quickly looked away, swallowing as hard as I could.
Before I could even move away, the door slammed open.
Sabrina storms in, her eyes full of excitement but the moment they meet mine, her face scrunches.
She threw a blanket at me and walked towards Ethan with a smile plastered on her lips.
Sabrina had always loved Ethan.
They're bed mates.
A chronic womanizer he is.
He claims to hate the elites but continues to screw them.
It taunts me every night to know that I have to take out the used condoms Ethan used on other women, most especially Sabrina.
I stared at the blanket, my nostrils instantly flooded with traces of dust it had gathered over time.
"What is this?" I asked.
"What do you think? Get it washed immediately." Sabrina rolled her eyes in disgust. "I am spending the night with Ethan, tomorrow is Luna's eclipse. Ethan is taking me, but I have to make sure he doesn't run off like always." Her words were like poison and the moment she finished talking, she winked at Ethan.
And he said nothing.
His eyes traced around her thighs enough for me to swallow in misery.
Sabrina shrugs, "Who knows? Maybe you can find a mate and completely break your family's curse. Don't worry about Ethan, I will take good care of him. Finally, you get to leave."
She narrows her brows, fixing her gaze on Ethan. "Why are you still keeping her, Ethan? She's bad luck."
"I should go," he rubbed the back of his head, disappearing into the shadows.
He didn't even defend me.
"I should go," I mutter, tugging the blanket up with a fainting smile on my face.
Sabrina barely paid me any attention, her expression was full of mockery.
I should be used to it, but still, it hurts.
I jolted, slamming against the door as a huge figure shoved me aside with bags in his hands.
"Here you go ma'am," he said.
Sabrina and Ethan's relationship is a bit twisted. They are supposed to be best friends but always end up in bed. The entire pack roots for them, but Ethan assured me that he only sees her as his bedmate.
Sabrina could barely notice me as she admired her reflection in the mirror – she had got everything it takes to win an Alpha. The connections, the class, the facials.
I sighed.
I took a step back and turned around, but then…
The door opens again, and there he is.
Ethan!
He was always a gorgeous man, his cocky smile flashed in the room and he scanned every corner.
His attention solely fixed on Sabrina, as though I didn't exist.
My heart aches as he turns to me with a pale face.
"If you don't have anything else to do, you can leave now. My parents will be here soon, and I don't want you to upset them with your presence, Davina."
"Okay," I say.
"Good girl," he smirked, giving me a gentle pat.
Sabrina's eyes soften helplessly as she gazes at Ethan, he pulls her in for a hug. "Don't worry. I will accompany you to the Lunar eclipse. Do whatever you want for tonight, I am all yours."
My heart pounds hard as I clench the blanket.
Not after he keeps screwing me every night.
He will always be ashamed to acknowledge our mate bond.
I try to watch the way he lingers around Sabrina, how he brushes her arms, unlike he does to me. My stomach twists. I can feel it, I was never overthinking. The suspicion I tried so hard to ignore for so long resurfaces.
A pang of jealousy flushed through me.
"Give us a moment, Davina," his voice hangs in the air like daggers.
His jaw tightened and for a moment, he was serious.
Sabrina aggressively walked towards me, shoving me aside and at that moment, she slammed the door right in my face, leaving me standing frozen outside.
I try not to think about the weight of his words, but they stick.
Get the job done. Warm his bed. Nanny the soon-to-be Alpha. That's all I am needed for anyway.
*
The night is silent, cold and heavy, the kind that strikes the bones.
The whole pack is gathered outside, preparing for the Lunar eclipse.
I scan every corner. Everyone, dressed in their finest, glimmering under the moonlight.
My fingers clutched the fabric Ethan secretly gave me while Sabrina was fast asleep.
Shabby, not even worth calling a beggar's dress.
"But it's better than my servant's uniform," I tell myself.
Who am I trying to impress anyway?
Just a few steps ahead, Sabrina's gown sparkled under the moonlight, dripping with the finest gemstones and the fact that Ethan had selected her outfit before coming here, made my lips twist.
"Get it together," I whisper.
"Why is she here?"
"I guess she is so eager to be blessed with a wolf and break her mother's curse, huh?"
"There's no getting away from her mother's curse. No wonder she doesn't have a wolf yet. It's just so pathetic at this point."
"I wonder why Ethan still keeps her by his side."
I dare not pick a fight.
One by one, the wolf around us starts to shift, their muscles begin to twist and skin suddenly tightens as fur bursts through them.
I should have shifted years ago, but yet, I never did.
Every year I participate in this ceremony as the daughter of the cursed one– hoping I would finally get my wolf, but I never did.
They roared as they fell to the ground.
I stand there looking despicable. My heart is pounding against my chest.
What was I thinking?
Maybe I shouldn't have attended.
Slowly and painfully, I feel a huge shift in my bones.
The world around me stopped as I fell to the ground, bones twisting, pains surging through my limbs. "It hurts!" I cried. I can feel every bone cracking as it shifts.
I screamed.
Tears streaked down my cheeks.
I did it.
After all these years, I finally did it.
As my paws hit the ground, my eyes looked up and there was Ethan, standing across me, his eyes full of shock.
He only transformed to honor his parents, he was quick to shift back to his human form.
Mate!
Shock rippled through the crowd.
I swallowed.
I shifted back to my human form instantly, my body couldn't beat the pains anymore. My heart is pounding like a drum roll.
"Ethan is truly my mate," I muttered, a bit of joy and terror flashed on my face.
"Ethan!" I called out.
But he stepped back. "No. This can't be happening. Not right here."
I froze.
What does he mean? If this is destiny, he should embrace it. This is not new to us. After all, he called me ‘mine’.
"I re–" He roars, but I was quick to cut him off.
"No! No! No!" I scream.
