Chapter 2

Davina He doesn't want me! He snarls. "Not that worthless omega. This can't be happening to me. This has got to be a joke." Sabrina's expression darkened but as soon as our eyes met, she smiled and walked towards me. Her fingers dug against my shoulder but no one noticed but me. I swallow, holding back the pain slicing against my skin. "It's not her fault, Ethan. She just wants a place to call home. You should accept her." Warm blood trickled down my shoulder down to my palm, she was hurting me. Her tone is laced with bitterness. Even a baby can see through her dirty tricks. Sabrina has always been evil. The pack began tittering around me. I can see the hunger in them. She hit a nerve and now, they all want to devour me. "How dare a lowly Omega dream to be mated with the future Alpha?" "Kill her!" "No—" I swallow. Tears streak down my eyes as I clutch the helm of my garment. I lifted my gaze, my eyes pleading with Ethan to save me. But– he looked away. I am nothing but the cursed Omega. Sabrina's face lit up, slowly she traced her fingers on my shoulders, her lips sticking close to my ear. "You hear that, no one wants you around. You must be brave to think that I will ever let you have Ethan to yourself." "I—" I couldn't speak. "No wolf. No pack." "But I did shift," I cried. "You all saw me shift." "Yet you couldn't control it for a second," Alpha Demetri roared. "My son does not need a disgrace as his mate. No wolf. No pack." "Please, I don't have anywhere to go. I am begging you, Alpha." "Enough!" Ethan snapped. "I, Ethan of the Silver Moon Pack, reject you. Davina Magnus as my mate." A searing pain slit through my chest, causing me to fall to the ground as the word ‘Reject’ lingered in the air like a curse. He rejected me. Maybe I am not worthy of anything, not even as a servant of the Demetri Family. Not only did I fail to summon and control my wolf, for the first time in my life, I was rejected for what I thought would be a blessing. "What were you thinking? That he would accept you? Sabrina's mockery hit me like a sharp dagger. He only used you. I know about everything, Davina. Did you really think Ethan loved you? Just like other girls, you meant nothing to him. You are just like your mother. A filthy w***e!" A ripple of laughter, the kind that bites, hangs in the air. And there he was, having the best laugh. He used me. How?! Then why did he keep me? I lift my head with pride though my heart shatters into a thousand pieces. I can't blame him. After all, I am the daughter of a mere w***e. An Omega unfit for mating. "I accept your rejection." Ethan gave a nod, his chin raised a bit with a wounded pride. I didn't beg any further. I accepted it. "I can't believe the Moon Goddess could choose her for Ethan. What a pathetic joke. You could as well call me Luna." Sabrina made a jest of me, but I shrugged it off. "I hope we never see each other again." I summon the courage to face the man who made me believe his lies all these years. The man who made me feel wanted behind closed doors. The man to whom I have given my heart. I give a bow and turn around to leave before they get the chance to humiliate me more than my fragile heart can handle. "Wait!" Ethan's order froze me where I stood. I dare not defile him. "Yes?" I asked. At this point, I can feel the entire pack's eyes boring holes right into my soul. "Aren't you forgetting something?" "What?" "The ceremony?" His eyes darkened. "Don't be so eager to leave yet. Let's end this right here and now. And by the way, think of this as my little way of appreciating your little bedroom services." My heart broke. Did he just treat me like a prostitute? I clutch my garment but the moment I take a step, eager to confront the bastard, he looks away. Sabrina clung to him the moment he turned to leave. "Don't let that b***h ruin your night. If you want, I will handle everything at home. We can finally be together just as you always wanted. She's finally out of the picture. She's no longer your mate." I resisted the urge to laugh. Sabrina has always chased after him from the first day I entered Demetri's house. A month ago, war broke out between the Shadow Pack and the Silver Moon Pack. I had to manage the affairs of the pack on Ethan's behalf while his father went to war. When the last pure blood, Lycan King, almost slit his throat during an invasion, I almost died trying to save him. I am the reason he isn't dead yet. I am the reason the pack hasn't collapsed under Ethan's leadership. I may be a worthless Omega in their eyes, but I am not weak. Sabrina walked up to me, her hand wrapped around my arm but this time, aggressive. Pain surged through my arm and without even thinking, I yanked her hand off me. Sabrina's eyes widened as she stumbled on the ground. She completely lost her balance. "Ah! Please don't hurt me, I was only trying to." And then comes the fake tears. "No, I didn't…" my legs trembled before the whole pack. Before I could even blink, Ethan's hand was hard on my face. "You!" He growled. My trembling hand flew straight to my cheek. I feel stupid that I can barely breathe. "Ethan, why?!" My voice cracked. "I only loved you… and you do this to me? I gave you everything? I gave you my damn virginity…" "For goodness’ sake, shut up, Davina. Enough! Get it in your head, you never meant anything to me. You really think that I could ever commit to a worthless Omega servant girl?" My head starts to tremble and tears won't stop pouring down my eyes. "You bastard! I trusted you—" Slap! I had no control of my emotions, and before I knew it, my hand hit hard on his face. "How dare you?!" He spat out, his eyes full of rage. And for a moment, I forgot about the whole pack. "Kill her…. Kill her… Kill her…." "No… no… Ethan, please don't let them hurt me. Please… please." My voice shook. "Help me!" "Let's kill her here and now." Sabrina screamed. Some of their faces twisted with lust, mixed with rage, but some, I can feel bitterness in them. I see some of those disgusting men unbuckling their belts. I screamed all I wanted but no one was coming to save me. Ethan just stood there unbothered. I look at his mocking smirk as he walks away. "Alpha, please, help me. They will kill me." Demetri bluntly ignored me, just like his son. I felt my soul shattering as they surrounded me, both men and women. I was never welcomed here. I ran to the stall by the side and quickly slammed the door in their faces. I quickly scanned the room and took out some heavy sacks to block the entrance. They rammed the door in violence. "Die, you cursed Omega!" I looked around, but there was a door at the exit. "Aah!" I snap. "This is bad." "I heard something. Let's check the exit. She can't escape…" I ran for it but hit the ground hard, barely managing to grab the doorknob before they noticed the door. It had a lock on it. I looked around, hoping to get something solid to break through but then, they started slamming the door hard. But before those men could catch me, I pushed against the door with a rod. I fall to the ground, my barefoot slamming against the grass. Tears wouldn't stop pouring down my eyes, but I ran into the dark forest, straight into the borders. The neighboring pack won't cross the borders and neither does my pack. "There she is." "Oh no!" My heart skipped. I climbed down the slope without looking back and I jumped into the water. "We have to go back. We crossed the border. If those animals spot us, they will shoot us without thinking." My breath fogs the air the moment I emerge from the water. I quickly rush off into the forest, but I feel a cold chill run down my spine and I can feel every movement and whisper in the tree. I almost choked on my scream when a brown wolf exploded from the shadows, moving with deadly precision. A deep menacing growl echoed through the trees as the wolf moved closer. I swallowed anxiously. I tried to summon my wolf but I couldn't. I didn't have time to react, knowing fully well that I was cooked in this dark forest. The wolf jumped to attack but then came a huge black wolf, twice the size of the brown wolf and more deadly. "Not two," I cried. The black wolf lunged, its jaws reaching for the throat with a brutal snap that made my body shiver. Blood splashes across the grass. "Ah!" Rejected by Ethan, now I have to be torn apart by a wild wolf in the middle of the dark forest. Before I could react, its red eyes locked onto mine. I stumbled back, hands trembling without a pause and I gently swallowed. It drew closer and the ground beneath me spun. I can feel its breath hit against my face. I close my eyes. Ready to die. It didn't bite, didn't tear me apart, but rather, it gently studied me. I blink in confusion, slowly open my eyes to meet his red eyes. The wolf lay close to my leg. Almost like it was at peace. What is happening? And right there, I fell to the ground. Embracing the darkness.
