Chapter 3

Davina The next morning, I woke up feeling sore and exhausted. I peered through the window. I froze in astonishment as a convoy of sleek black cars pulled into the driveway. Dozens of warriors in black suits slipped out and quickly rushed to the Rolls-Royce in the middle. I have no idea what was going on. I stopped breathing for a while when I saw the suite I was in. "What the heck?!" I snapped. I rush off to the door, hoping to make my way through. "Ethan must not get his hands on me again," I thought. The only thing I could think of was that Ethan and his men caught me last night. He is going to kill me. The doorknob was stuck, my heart pounded against my chest without a pause. I quickly rushed off to the window only to see a man so perfect and chiseled. His dark hair swept against his shoulders and he stood out amongst the warriors. He is ten times more handsome than Ethan. It was like his presence was commanding the air to freeze. His aura is a bit dreadful but yet charming. I swallowed. "Where am I?" I muttered. Slowly, he pulled down his sunglasses and his gaze locked on mine from the far end. I froze. My heart beat thundered in my ears and my feet trembled as I watched them walk in. "Alpha Enzo," I heard someone say outside the door. "She is inside." "Good," he replied. His voice thundered like lightening and all I could think of was the nearest exit. "B-But," "But what Kora?" the Alpha asked. I peeped from the window to see them, but I couldn't see anything. The door suddenly bursts open and, in the heat of the moment, I fall to the ground, my eyes won't stop flickering at the Alpha of this mysterious pack. His eyes scanned my pathetic self, but instead of irritation, his smile curled up and a part of me shivered in confusion. "Where am I?" I asked politely. "Are you going to kill me too?" "Well, you look beautiful, Luna Davina," he said with a smile perfectly curled on his lips. "If you don't mind, we have dinner to attend, and you are coming with me as my date. You can take this as your debt paid off after last night's battle." Huh?! Wait— Luna?! How? 'And what about last night?" My head started to spin, and it finally dawned on me that the wolf that saved me last night was this man. Alpha Enzo? The same Alpha every pack fears, the very man who befriended the last Lycan Ruthless King and had him at his disposal? The Alpha of the Night Moon Pack. My eyes widened for a second, not because of Alpha Enzo but because of the twist of having been saved by the man I had once adored as a hero. "Kora will get you ready. You must do your best to win their favor at the dinner. I will see you soon, Luna Davina." "I don't understand." Alpha Enzo looked at me with glittering eyes, almost chuckling, but he simply turned around to leave without saying a word to clear my doubts. I have no idea what is happening. "That's enough," I heard a deep and resonating voice. "Stop pretending like you didn't orchestrate this. A lone wolf wandering in the deep forest, barely surviving just to get the Alpha's attention." "I don't understand what you are talking about." "Everyone knows Alpha Enzo can't turn a blind eye to a helpless creature in the forest. You know he would go up hunting last night and seize the opportunity to enchant him." "Not again," I whine. Not after escaping Sabrina do I still have to deal with another version of her in the Night Moon Pack. "Here's the thing, I will style you because I can never disobey my Alpha, but that doesn't change what I see you as, ‘A gold digger’. Look, that man is more than family to me. He is not just my alpha but my best friend. I can die for Alpha Enzo no matter what happens. I don't like you and never will. And if I don't get you eventually, I am sure Kylie will. We will see how you intend to survive at the ball tonight against the elders and Kylie's clan." "You must be mistaken." I tried to make her understand but she completely ignored me. Slam! My eyes widened at the sudden turn of events. I don't even know how I got here and I already have enemies. * Kora has done an excellent job styling me for the ball tonight. I have no idea what I am going there for, but I have to show gratitude to the man who saved me. Besides, everyone has been nice to me except for Kora, but at this point, I don't care. I finally got accepted into a pack different from the misery I once knew. Kora had selected my entire outfit and for the first time in my life, I felt beautiful. She chose to style me in a golden silk gown, its fabric shimmering in the light paired with matching earrings and the perfect heels. The stylist tied my hair into a bun with a crown on it. "Wow!" I couldn't hold back my amusement. Kora rolled her eyes and looked away instead. * I let out an exhale and scanned the room for Alpha Enzo. I had had enough of waiting outside because Kora completely left me out there without showing me my way around. I just have to find the man who made this day possible and show him how grateful I am. I don't mind serving as a maid once more. I know this time will be different. I smiled and walked into the main hall, raising my chin up. Deep down, I know who I am, the cursed Omega, but I won't let the stigma have its way tonight. The ballroom fell into a deep silence and everyone stopped to look at me. At the end of the hall, he stood there, watching me. Alpha Enzo. He stood out amongst other wolves as the finest, his presence was somehow radiating but the circle of warriors around him seemed tough and impenetrable. His dark hair and blue eyes locked on me and a smile plastered on his lips. But besides him stood pure hate from a woman wearing a golden dress, almost the same as me. I bowed to the Alpha, but my eyes wouldn't stop scanning his neatly tailored black suit and his impeccable grin. "At your service, Alpha Enzo," I said with a bow. "It's a pleasure to see you once more." The pleasure is all mine, he takes my hand and gently kisses it. I swear my heart could burst but I managed to remain composed. He tossed his whiskey on the table, pulling away from the woman whose eyes wouldn't stop shooting daggers at me. "Davina Magnus. Let me help you restore your lost Glory and make those who have wronged you grovel at your feet." I jerked back. "Alpha Enzo," my hand trembled. "You must be mistaken." There's no way my mother met with a rare blood. I have no Glory. I couldn't even contain my wolf at the ceremony. I have no idea what it looked like. It can't be. He stepped forward, his intense gaze on me. "Be my Luna and accept my pack. Only then shall those who hurt you feel my wrath," his lips curled up. No one dared to move. "But I'm not worthy. I am just a lone wolf. Why would you want me? You don't even know me." "Because you are my mate!" I staggered. His eyes bleed into a deep obsidian. Veins of gold threading. The gold in his eyes came alive. And this could only mean one thing. My jaw dropped. The word ‘Mate’ screamed in my head. "I—I am sorry, Alpha Enzo, but–" He walked to me, his scent of cedar and musk washed over me like a heady perfume. I tried to take a step, but I accidentally slipped, but his arms wrapped around my waist, locking eyes intensely on me.
