PROLOUGE
Valent High School, Meridonna.
What a mess! Derelo Orello sighed and muttered an expletive under his breath.
This was his seventh attempt to discover a new chemical compound.
" it has to work, it just has to." He said under his breath. Sneaking into the lab when school had closed was not such a good idea after all.
Then a thought hit him; why would an acid and an acid react to become neutral to litmus paper?, perhaps if he added an amphoteric salt it would show a change.
As he walked towards the rack which held the chemical salts, his mind wandered to his adventures of that morning. He had gone to retrieve his father's suitcase and had found a box under his father's bed bearing the sign of a white angel having horns and a cross over her heart. He had panicked but had pretended to have seen nothing as he handed his father his suitcase. He shoved the issue to the back of his mind and went to school. But now, alone in this lab, he wondered what his father had kept in that mysterious box as he proceeded to mix the salt with the acids.
He felt an itch and scratched his head. Lost was he in his thoughts that he did not notice that two strands of his hair had fallen into the acid and the acid combination had turned grey like the fog of the winter. He lifted the salt closed his eyes and prayed. He only had to pass this test and he was out of High School. As he poured the salt into the acid in the poorly lit laboratory, he hoped, waited and expected. After mixing, he stared at the solution, it did not show any change. Frustrated, he picked up the test tube and was about to dispose off it's content and Boom! Everything went black.
